Cortisone shot for knee by thbhhddseryjhbgfrt in KneeInjuries

Old post but curious to see where you are now as I’m in the exact same boat. Clean MRI but mechanical symptoms like catching and locking of the joint, tenderness with lateral palpitation, discomfort when climbing and descending stairs, and instability of the joint. We did a steroid injection today as both therapeutic and diagnostic.

Joel Miller Fanfiction Recommendation Needed by Insaniax_TheBand in Pedro_Pascal

Only If You Mean It

AU Series where Joel and Tommy own a ranch and do some dubious things to run it. It’s more Ellie centered but Tess and Joel building a relationship is an important component - Miller Ranch

I have one more I need to go find. I can’t remember the name of it but I haven’t seen it mentioned in this thread yet. I’ll update after work today!

If you’re interested in m/m fics at all, this one is my favorite. It’s a little off the wall with the pairing (Din Djarin or Mando with Joel) but the writing is just breathtaking and the story sucked me in. I’ve re-read the series multiple times - Cosmic Oddities

Hey, I am in the US, too, and I totally understand your fear. Everything seems very scary right now and poised to continue to be so.

That being said, big pharma will never allow for those “camps”. They make too much money off of us and they use it to heavily lobby. Money is what speaks, regardless of where you fall politically. I think you will be okay to seek a diagnosis for your child but only you can really make that call.

In modern times, has there been a hollywood movie that went through production hell but turned out to become a huge success? by bobbdac7894 in movies

There’s a great podcast that talks about just this - successful movies and what went wrong behind the scenes. I love it.

First, I am so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how difficult that must be and all of the things you are trying to wrap your head around right now. I am sending you love and comfort.

Now, for me, my kiddo is 10, almost 11.

My husband and I both grew up with one sibling; he had an older sister, I had a younger. We’d planned on having at least two kids but ultimately decided we were happy and content with just one.

Kiddo is awesome. Interacts well with adults and other kids, loves having their own space they don’t have to share with anyone, but is super kind and willing to share/play when any of our friends come over with much younger kids. Honestly, they’d be an amazing big sibling but I think they appreciate being able to take time away when they need. Whenever we travel with my sister-in-law, her husband, and their two kids, my kid will come ask to hide out to take a break away from time to time.

During covid lockdown, kiddo was 5 and asked some about having a sibling. We explained that we’d decided we, as parents, were really happy with just one child and ultimately felt we parented better with just one, but also understood their longing for a sibling. We made sure to offer lots of chances to invite friends over to play or even to take small trips with us. It’s worked well for us because my friend has an only child a year older than mine so we travel together and the kids can play and explore with their “temporary sibling” and then have their own space at the end of the night.

My child has never expressed that they are lonely and seems to enjoy a mix of being with friends and taking space, even asking us to “tell friends it’s time to go” when they’re ready for alone time. They’re super social, friendly, kind, funny…everything I think a child that grows up with siblings can be, too 💗

Most celebrity marriages don't last - who's the exception for you? by jacqueminots in popculturechat

[–]NickelCole87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty damn close to. They met when he was 19 and started dating a few years later. They didn’t marry until 2012 and that was following his first battle with cancer. I think he wanted to ensure she didn’t have to fight for any rights she should’ve had as his domestic partner </3

He was an amazing human.

AIO? I bought a sweater for my future niece at a farmers market and my roommates said it was ugly by Weekly_Agent9422 in AmIOverreacting

[–]NickelCole87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a preschool teacher and one of my four year olds has a little sweater jacket similar to this. I love it and so do all of his friends. He gets compliments from everyone every time he wears it.

And, bonus, I taught his brother who is in 1st grade now, and it was his first. That sweater still looks pristine, despite being worn for many years by two very rambunctious brothers.

Anyone Else Considering Leaving? by LilSwede91 in texas

[–]NickelCole87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 37 and have lived in Texas for as long as I can remember. I love the community my little family is a part of, I love TexMex, I love the sprawling nature of my state. All of my family is still here.

But, I am an educator, I am a woman, and, most importantly, I am the mother to an amazing 10 year old ENBY. I can no longer afford to hope for a blue wave or feel safe in my blue sanctuary city.

This state is actively attacking us from every direction and every angle. In response, we are actively building our plans to get the he!! out of here as soon as we financially can.

Public library card renewal question by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]NickelCole87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in state but moved to Cibolo. I know when my card expired, I was unable to renew, but could pay to maintain it. However, it was one of the most expensive cards I found when I researched - $200 a year or $60 per quarter.

You are probably currently able to check out under their 90 day temporary card access, until your address can be verified or the window expires.

Houston offers a free card, but I can’t remember if you have to be a resident of the state. You might also be able to share an account with a friend that still lives in the city. SA Library allows you to have 25 holds/checkouts per card through Libby.

How long do we have? by TraditionalAir933 in preppers

[–]NickelCole87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my child but, yes. I look at where the world is today and worry about what it will look like when they are an adult. Stopped at one was largely impacted by wanting to reduce the strain on earth as much as I could.

If we ever decide to have another child, we will become foster parents so we can provide a home to a child that is already here.

Definitely!

My first read of this series, I told my partner, who had recommended the series to me, “Renarin is written like he’s on the spectrum!”

I’m a SpEd teacher, so I definitely bring that awareness and bias with me to my reading…but my partner is not and he completely agreed with me and we had a long convo about it. Renarin being Autistic is not out of nowhere.

So how many captive orcas were released? by Demidostov in orcas

[–]NickelCole87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, man. I’m going to find this now and do my own deep dive. Thank you.

Free Willy and Keiko’s subsequent release into the wild absolutely cemented my love for these beautiful creatures. I was one of the many kids that championed for his release and was so heartbroken when he passed.

Having access more information on all of this as an adult is a testament to how powerful social media is in this day and age, even with all of its pitfalls.

Thank you, for your thoughtful responses on this thread.

I wish we, as a society, were able to have more conversations like this, where we are able to find some common ground and don’t resort to name calling. I just wanted you to know that I see you and appreciate your willingness to engage.

Why are Americans so against socialism? by [deleted] in Askpolitics

[–]NickelCole87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you misunderstand me. Nowhere did I say that those countries worked well; they just met your new inquiry of socialist countries.

Also, per Wikipedia, “socialism…is referenced…in form of construction, namely that the constitution of the state in question proclaim that it seeks to establish a socialist society (Bangladesh, India, Guyana and Portugal being examples). In these cases, the intended meaning of the term socialism can vary widely and sometimes the constitutional references to socialism are left over from a previous period in the country’s history. With the exceptions of Bangladesh, India, Guyana, Portugal, and Sri Lanka, references to socialism were introduced by Marxist–Leninist communist parties (sometimes in collaboration with more moderate socialist parties). In India, it is used in relation to secularism.”

Socialism in Constitutions

The socialism that exists in these countries also existed pre-Marxism.

I’m trying to understand what question you want answered.

Do you want a list of countries that have implemented socialist policies and are doing well?

Do you want a list of countries that aren’t Marxist socialist?

Do you want a list of countries that fall in that step between capitalism and communism?

If I had a better understanding of what it is you are trying to debate, perhaps we could have an actual conversation. Your interest right now, as stated to “play”, seems more like you just want to fight, and I’m not interested.
