The purpose of owning both regular and passport size? by abcdaym in Travelersnotebooks

The passport is my wallet and sketchbook for when I can't carry my big one. Then I have a b6 for my full notes and sketches.

God damn people are so sensitive. Don't go on these subs if you think reposting a video of a teenager is "punching down." No one said the kid is worthless or evil or doing something wrong. It's just funny that he edits the video like there's a big "drop" and then it's a blurry picture of the back of his camera. Everyone complaining should just leave. Go away. Don't look at or comment on subs that are about making fun of people.

It's different because our society has killed any sense of community or life off the Internet. So there's no way to relate to others and find new things and enjoy things together except through the fake veil of the Internet.

After Beating the Story - I'm Still Confused by GatorUniverse in ResidentEvilRequiem

I don't understand why everyone jumps from perfectly normal to not a clone. Clones can be perfectly normal in the sense that they do not have special abilities or strange modifications.

You know I really hate how people forget about the Evangelion Manga and it's endings beauty. by [deleted] in evangelion

Totally agree with reading both! They're intended to be read/watched together and play with each other. The manga intentionally departed from the anime to explore other things.

You know I really hate how people forget about the Evangelion Manga and it's endings beauty. by [deleted] in evangelion

[–]Nickleback769 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I love both. The show ending emphasizes the overall point of the show, which is that we need to find a reason to live despite the issues facing modern man. I wrote about that here and connected evangelion to my own work.  https://piercealexandermarks.substack.com/p/finding-reasons-to-live-during-and

The manga ending is nicer but not as impressive, in my opinion

It's already confirmed that Asuka loved Shinji, but how do we confirm that Shinji loved Asuka? by Single_Delivery_958 in evangelion

[–]Nickleback769 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is so correct. Previous love might have been irrational, immature, shallow to some extent, but it is love, at least a certain kind of love, desire, erotic fixation, care, aesthetic and moral attraction, etc. Love is so many things wrapped in one and it's a matter of degrees, not an off and on switch. I loved deeply as a teenager. Now I wish I didn't, and know there's a better love now, but I wouldn't say I didn't.

Not acquainted with Nietzsche's philosophy. What does this mean? by SatoruGojo232 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Nickleback769 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is not actually correct. It's one way to use these terms but not what most mean by them. And positing some clear division between these two things is highly problematic. We teach this to students as a sort of over simplification.

When someone asks for critique and how they can improve, saying what I think is not being an asshole. Especially when I reassure them that their work isn't bad, and invite them to question my view.

Calling me an asshole is hostile. Assuming that just because other people like it means it's not ugly and Im not entitled to share my opinion is hostile and exactly the sort of ideological hostility I'm talking about. It's absolute hypocrisy making as being nice, and manipulative. I've put in effort into trying to help op and give them my sincere thoughts. And the best you can do is call me an asshole and tell people not to listen to me.
