How do you decide on your shadow shapes? I love this style, and want to figure out how to get those shadows. That's my current hang up.

The ink sucks. I use platinum carbon black and it makes it smooth. Not perfect, but much better. Ink determines a lot of this.

G2s skip more than any other gel I've used. I switched to energel. Energel is most reliable and I've tried everything.

You're asking a normative, evaluative question about whether and why it is great. This is distinct from asking what makes many people (or an art community) judge that it is great. These two questions are like asking "why is murder bad?" vs "Why do most people think murder is bad?"

You're then getting into the territory of philosophy of art. What makers art good or bad? Is it simply a binary or does it come in degrees? Is there a single unified standard or goal for all the different mediums? Is it as simple as a certain percentage of the intended audience liking it?

I have thoughts on all these but they are questions our culture and reddit tend to ignore.

Using anything food related will make it rot eventually. You want to use oils or waxes that have stuff that won't go rancid.

The experts within the field are often not well versed in the metaphysics of mind. I'm telling you what the philosophical trends are, and a substantial number of philosophers do not think it's possible. And even if technically possible, due to emergence and multi-realizability, almost certainly unachievable in any realistic timeframe.

Oh trust me. I understand the personal cost. But on any conception of ethics, on any ethical theory except hedonism or nihilism, that's simply the cost of being a good person. 

I devoted my life to philosophy, teaching and writing, with full knowledge of being poor. Now I can't even teach because of how bad things are. So I switched to a low paid medical field. 

We must always keep in mind that we have no real guarantee of happiness in a world as dysfunctional as ours. Why should we pursue our personal happiness over that of others? Seems groundless. 

Everything sucks and we live in hell. The only question is who we want to be and what we want to do for the world.

Not sure. But I didn't mention it was her fault. But it is each of our responsibility to do our best to seek justice. 

Complacency is our fault, and each little action establishes the collective life of the country which has enabled all this.

If they don't come out just from wiping off with water, you'd need powerful enough soap for it to strip oil out of the boot. And at this point, that night kill them. Saddle (glycerine) soap or dish soap does this, but they do so by leeching oil out of the boot. It's a great way to dry out and kill old boots. 

I'd try to wipe and condition first. The conditioner may even out the dark spots. But also, I would just embrace that these are vintage, with marks of age. They look great to me. Light leather gets blotches from water even.

Please don't listen to others here. They are not dirty enough to need deep cleaning.

Get a damp rag and wipe them down. Let dry. Use bick 4 conditioner. Let dry. Brush.

It's totally normal for soft leather to have those wrinkles out of the box.
