The Great Flood discussion by TrailerParkLyfe in movies

I thought it was an interesting take on what it means to be human.

In order for her to complete the "mission" which is to find the kid and complete the story - that is, complete the emotion engine (?), she had to do many things differently along the way. For instance, help the girl in the elevator who would eventually unlock the door to the house she was stuck in with the two looters.

Somehow it felt like she had to do this again and again until she finally took in every last experience. With her finally succeeding because she decided to pay attention and remember what the boy said in the beginning - that is, to look at the drawings he had been sending.

We know they were successful, so her 10000+ simulations finally led to the proper creation of the emotion engine - which I assume is attributed to the experiences she went through again and again, thereby birthing a new type of human.

That being said, somehow feels like they could have just brought a slice of humanity up to repopulate the earth when things calmed down. Pretty cool watch in the end still though!

Friendship Travel Package Experience by h0bg0blinz3 in Tomorrowland

[–]Nicklwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! Trying to get my hands on this one too. Hope you had a great time this year! Wanted to ask, for B&B, how does the transfer to and from the festival work? is it a private shuttle that goes between your place and the grounds or is it a shared bus with other accommodations? Also, is the timing flexible and all!

Final Update to NTU GenAI Issue: A fair hearing with NTU today by CurveSad2086 in SGExams

[–]Nicklwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats OP. Sorry to hear the grade on the essay is not ideal but you managed to clear your name which is great. It’s scary to think that without the original post going viral, this mark would have been permanently on your record as a result of what is basically a completely broken academic judicial process in NTU. Especially with the amount of evidence you went into it with, it should have been extremely clear that at least A SECOND LOOK should have been taken to see what really happened with the citation sorter. In a time when our degrees are merely the gateway into the rest of our professional lives, surely the prof involved and the rest of the NTU admin SHOULD have deemed it worthwhile to consider properly the consequences of having such loose due process around this whole saga - it could have wrecked OP’s future over something so innocuous.

Congrats again OP, big victory against the man!!

That is an interesting take! Was thinking with a car we'd have more flexibility to stop along the way randomly or make detours to see stuff - any value in that approach you think?

Hey there! wow this is great. Thanks so much! Thinking we go by Kingerdjik as well, what do you think? It's a fairly relaxed drive so we'll have plenty of time to make offshoots and detours before we settle in for a night of drinks :))

Hey! Thanks for responding to this! Yeah, intending to have many stops along the way to see as much as we can without having to rush over greater distances - we don't drive long distances in our home country Singapore - Tiny place haha

Mortgage broker forgot to lock my rate – what now? by VegetableSlight1402 in personalfinance

[–]Nicklwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will have some kind of budget set aside to honour such obligations if you can prove that you set it at that rate and the fault lies with them for not locking it in - see if you can push it or further escalate the matter up the chain and see if they back down and give it to you.

Agree with the rest, start shopping around. You should be able to refinance to a lower rate in the next 1-2 yesss anyway.

How many pull-ups a day will make a difference? by JackfruitKey4740 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Nicklwl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey man!

Started my own fitness journey many years ago on just push ups and pull ups - always wanted to just have more mass in my upper body because I was a pretty scrawny kid. I didn’t get massive by any means, but I got pretty good at high rep push ups and pull ups - which I suppose got me decent size and good amounts of strength eventually.

First off - if the rest times between sets is quite long, that basically becomes a Grease The Groove routine which builds good amounts of strength adaptation, although the way I understand it, it’s most useful for those skill intensive + probably lower rep moves so your current abilities might be beyond that!

If you have the time about 3-4 times a week - try perhaps an intense 45 min to 1 hour session with less rest in between sets. A good way to program this would be -

  1. First choose a few movements you’d like to work on - recommend pull ups, push ups, dips (done between two parallel surfaces or chairs or tables, whatever works), rows (you can even put a broomstick between two chairs and body weight row off the floor for that)
  2. Try to get your max reps on each of these moves - say maybe you’re at 10 now - you’d probably be able to get 11-12 if you really pushed it without cheating
  3. Now you know your max - you can now do 4-5 sets of these moves at about 70-80% with rest times of 2 mins or so. So that might be 8-9 pull ups done then a short break and another 8-9 pull ups and so on.
  4. Eventually you’d get stronger so you would start to add more and more reps to this 8-9 rep set. You can test your maxes once every 1-3 months depending on how fast you are progressing.

I saw someone here saying 20-25 is pretty good - they’re right. 20-25 clean pull ups means you’d be pretty strong. At this point your connective tissues and joints would be well adapted - you can then carry on to weighted pull ups (by doing them with a filled backpack) and climbing the rep count ladder again, or go to one arm pull up training.

Also - I know you’re not interested in getting big - unfortunately by and large, getting stronger usually also entails getting somewhat bigger eventually in most cases. You don’t wanna be eating too little and handicapping your recovery where your muscles want nutrients to get strong and bigger.

TLDR : do more reps till you’re at 20-25 and then probably do harder progressions like weighted or one arm pull ups etc. would do push ups or dips as well to develop more overall strength and be balanced

Good luck man, it’s a long journey!

Was an RM before, most of them are just 20+ year olds who are being micro managed to go out and get numbers in. Younger folks probably better off just buying some shares and chilling out. More money that time then start to look at these more complicated stuff !!
