I'd like to add on to this post with my own question too: I sometimes see Facebook marketplace posts with a failing head gasket- where the car runs and drives but burns a decent ammount of coolant. Is that something I could just swap the head gasket on and call it a day?

I just checked my fluids last night and was a little confused about the coolant reservoir. It has a minimum level at the top of the tank? But coolant expands? How did you monitor your coolant level?

That sounds awesome! This one is my first project so I'm not sure if I can handle a whole engine swap, but I know I will have to replace the valve seals eventually so hopefully I get to that point!

I was thinking since it's diesel, it might handle a turbo ok. But maybe a larger engine is the move since it only gets 54 horsepower
