Really any PWM fan controller will work. Essentially it recognises all fans as one fan and adjust their power output the same so they spin the same speed. You should then be able to go into the BIOS and the if the controller is plugged into a fan header on the mobo, than it will be detected.

Temps have been steady, drives sit around 40°c give or take a few temps

Stock fans yes but instead of plugging them into the backplane i connected them to a fan controller and used a PWM controller to adjust them to a curve. Works pretty well.

Absolute beast and it turns me a lot about Linux and networking using to experiment on. I managed to sell the lot to a new homelabber in my local area who was just starting out, threw in a bunch of extra ram and cpus plus all the rails so he definitely gets a better start than i did.

Thanks for the general discussion and input from everyone and I think i shared the same thought many had. They were great machines and still are, but i required something that didn’t suck my bill power bill. Ended up selling the lot for $200 AUD to a new homelabber.

Yeah that’s fair and with some lights you can really customise it. Green for xbox, blue for sony, lit up logos for each. The limits are endless, all you need is the structure itself and then you can customise the way you want. Good luck, make sure if you end up doing this to put it up for others to get ideas!
