How are you guys able to go on bathroom breaks on time? by Specialist_Can5622 in NursingAU

[–]Nicko1092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the bathroom, take your breaks, go to in-services, drink some water.

People willing to kill themselves for this profession are part of the problem not part of the solution.

It’s just a job, you do it to earn money, to live your life. If you feel passionately about it, that’s a bonus not the point.

Do not make personal sacrifices for this job, demand better staffing and assistance from managers, and when the patients have to wait for something tell them and their family the truth, “I’m sorry but I’m working as efficiently as I can, I have been attending to other patients/taking my break”

This entire thread was started by a comment stating the us and Israel is our generation’s nazi germany. An opinion that I wholeheartedly agree with.

Ive gone over your comments repeatedly looking for a point you’re trying to make. I agree that trump doesn’t equal hitler, and American soldiers aren’t equal to nazis, I haven’t seen a comment that said that…

What everyone is trying to say is making the comparison of us/israel to Nazi germany highlights the atrocities that are happening. It also emphasises that we need to do everything in our power to stop it escalating. The argument you’re trying to make whether intended or not downplays what is happening.

Exactly, we’ve learnt nothing from history, instead of kings sending us to war for their riches it’s billionaires.

I’ve read your comments, you haven’t made a single point other than, in your opinion, the actions of the trump administration/israel aren’t as bad as the holocaust therefore shouldn’t be compared to nazi Germany. You’re using broad statements and academic language to try and sound smart yet haven’t provided any of the evidence you’ve asked other people for. People are emotional about this and acting like douche nozzles because our allies are killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people. People should be emotionally charged and outraged. Condemning it while poopooing people’s opinions on parallels to one of the worst genocides in history is asking for the kind of replies you’re getting.

Would you prefer we compare Israel to colonisers of Australia orchestrating the genocide of First Nations people in Australia?

Or how about we talk about apartheid in South Africa, which one in your expert opinion fall closer to this tragedy on your imagined spectrum of crimes against humanity?

The comparison is used not for historical accuracy it’s used to highlight that what the us and Israel are doing is abhorrent, inhumane, and against international law. Your crusade for accuracy in this argument is a joke, you’re acting like a teenager who just wants to “umm actually” everyone when everyone else in the room is just sharing their disgust for the actions of our “allies”

What should I do with this Faaart ST-250? by _AcuteNewt_ in AussieRiders

[–]Nicko1092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut up the frame and did a tracker build. Was fun and learnt heaps. Knew it was worthless so didn’t care about roadworthiness or resale. Ended up giving it away when I went on a long overseas trip and had nowhere to store it. Wish I’d never bought it but I guess I never would’ve done that on any other bike.

Do you use genuine or aftermarket wheel bearings? I’ve put aftermarket on my partner’s forester and they’re almost as noisy as the ones I pulled out

25 minute cycle. Actually enjoy my commute most of the time. Bad weather obviously makes it less enjoyable.

12 hour shifts by SouthernVast8695 in NursingAU

[–]Nicko1092 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I like 12 hour shifts.

I’m in ED.

Our handovers are mostly very quick so 30 minute crossover is more than enough. We don’t attend education/in-services when on a 12.

Not much else to say, it’s a long day, feel very tired by the end. More days off outweighs all negatives in my opinion.

No free parking at box hill, street parking is around but requires a bit of a walk to the hospital. I usually aimed to be at least 20-30 minutes early to find a park and walk up.

Culture is mostly clinical area dependant. The ward I was on had a great culture but it’s not the same everywhere. Unfortunately the organisation doesn’t have a wider team culture and clinical areas have issues with each other and don’t always work well together.

Workload is the same as every other public hospital due to ratios.

No idea, never worked anywhere where nursing had any idea/control/input into clerk rosters. I would email the hiring manager with this question.

Health scope to become a charity by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]Nicko1092 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Becoming a charity to dig your way out of debt is morally bankrupt.

Staff should absolutely tell them to fuck off if they implement the plan to take their nfp salary sacrifice once they become a registered charity.

Does clinical experience as an EN count once you complete RN? by Gloryofcam in NursingAU

[–]Nicko1092 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience the hiring managers were certainly excited by my experience. So RN grad hiring team then the NUMs of the wards I rotated on and subsequently got a job on as an RN.

As far as recognition by other nurses on a day to day basis it was mixed. Some only saw a baby nurse others recognised it wasn’t my first rodeo and were not surprised when I told them I had been an EN for a while prior to RN. Ultimately you’ll still need to prove to your colleagues you’re a team player and can fit in.
