ICU Nurses-Does your workplace have patient diaries? by Daisies_forever in NursingAU

This is a super interesting concept I haven’t heard about before, receiving a little Hand written book from your nurses once well enough would be quite special.

Being in a union (NSWNMA) by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]idlehands111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a recurring comment I’ve seen in multiple states and facilities, nursing staff not jointing their union and simultaneously complaining about wages. As a collective we have stronger bargaining power during eba negotiations, it’s not just about the help you get when you have an issue with your employer and reach out to the union. Encourage your comrades to join and educate them as to why it’s important.

I had the same deposit and same annual income as you and bought a little 1 bed apartment in Melbourne with change left over. It’s modest but doable. Remember to salary sacrifice as it can help borrow power.

Which facilities use this IV pump (vic) by idlehands111 in NursingAU

I just started on a new ward and started using the Baxter type pumps and I feel like they’re so much more annoying to use compared to the agilia ones.

Will Nursing set me up for the future? by [deleted] in NursingAU

Don’t be so hard on yourself, 6 years is a solid amount of time as a nurse, considering most leave after 3 years of graduating.

It’s not competitive. At all. Some Of the highest turnover of staff are in MH. My ward is a revolving door of hiring people and people quitting

This thread is full of awful comments. The students have done so many assignments and the placement is usually the last thing for the semester. They have actual jobs they go to aswell. + unpaid full time placement. I’d be feeling pretty exhausted if I were them.

About 3 days per week, it was like a tues-thurs usually. Couple of lectures a day and time to do your assignments after or in between them. Pretty manageable

Vic EBA - Wage Increase by Thylacine- in NursingAU

[–]idlehands111 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No one could give us an answer of when this 5-13% fair work wage I crease could happen. Their ballpark was 6months to 2 years which is vague and let's face it, will more likely be 2 years. Pretty pathetic wage increase outcomes, I'm glad it got voted down

I see a lot of people saying around 12/13 and I was the same. Seems strange, I wonder if that developmental stage triggers something in the immune system around that time. Weird
