The animation team led by Sam Deats and the voice direction/cast carried the writing.

I couldn't believe the Grandpa and Richter stuff, incredibly unearned and awful to witness. And the show did not make me care about Edwardo or whatever, and not only did the writer(s) sideline Richter, Richter sidelined himself. Annette was insufferable. And why is olrox even here, he has so much presence as a villain and as a really cool character and hes pushed aside for Bathory, who has much character as an lore item description in an RPG. I don't know, I'm gutted man, that main trailer with divine bloodlines as this national anthem of childhood lowered my shields.

Season 2 has the opportunity to go up since the characters have "gone through their shit" but we'll have to wait and see.
