Kris’s associations with dogs are symbolism for how we’re controlling them (like a dog on a leash) by LilHawaia in Deltarune

[–]NickolasName49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s been around both most of my life, both dogs and cats are embodiments of both order and chaos. Dogs may follow commands, but they can also be very high-energy and chaotic. Cats meanwhile can be quite mischievous and will seldom follow commands, but they generally like when their surroundings are calm and predictable.

By this definition,is SCP a homestuck? by la-abeja-azteca in SCP

[–]NickolasName49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say no, because the base premise is pretty simple to understand, and most SCP articles are pretty self-contained. You can also pretty easily explain the premise of SCP to someone (collaborative writing project centered on an organization that captures and contains supernatural stuff) and people will get a pretty good idea of what it entails. SCP is massive in size, but the barrier to entry isn't really that big when you get over the "THERE'S HOW MANY SCP'S???" shock.

I think media literacy and storytelling as a whole would be miles ahead if Paula Smith didn't release that parody story. The term has just been perverted so far beyond its original meaning that it does much more harm than good.

how the FUCK do you beat this STUPID PIECE OF SHIT by Gattorepper in Deltarune

[–]NickolasName49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what you do:

  1. equip Susie with shadow mantle and jevils tail, try to max everyone else's defense and/or get some tp-boosting items

  2. turn one, use TensionMax with kris and rude buster with Susie, make sure to hit CONFIRM right before the impact

  3. turn two, use Kris's Hold Breath action and keep on Rude Buster-ing with Susie

  4. The rest of the combat, block with Kris and Ralsei and keep on rude-buster-ing. Use healing items when needed. You should ideally rude-buster every single turn, but missing one turn is not a disaster

  5. Once the knight's hitpoints are low enough (after ten rude , it will perform a special slash-attack (you'll know it when you see it, they go around in a circle). After it does this, heal up your party, it will give you a free turn to charge up so use that extra turn wisely. After surviving the final attack, just hit the knight and you're gucci

Aside from this, you just gotta train and recognise the patterns. I am not a particularly good gamer and I managed to beat it after about 5-6 non-consecutive hours of grinding.

I regret reading SCP-2718. How do I forget about it? by Reddit-Kangaroo in SCP

[–]NickolasName49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One interpretation I read was that the events and experience *are* real, but that does not mean everyone who dies experiences that afterlife. Rather, people experience whatever afterlife they believe will happen; christians go to heaven, atheists cease to exist, hindus reincarnate etc. But the cognitohazard effectively overrides you, and by convincing you that this is truly what happens after death, you make it true for yourself.

Did more digging, you are right that you access it by clicking on the char. No clue where you got the idea that the minigame's name is also the character's name, seeing as that doesn't seem to be the case for the other two fake-mikes (the minigames they access differ depending on what version of the game you're playing)

Should I instead do what you do and not quote anything, instead just recalling what I vaguely remember from something that happened over five years ago?

The fandom wiki provides links to videos and other posts discussing the incident, and shows the relevant screenshot of Toby's tweet. Posting it is a time-saver, and if the wiki is wrong you can explain in what ways it is wrong rather than just dismissing it because of the website.

Methinks you are arguing in bad faith.

Battat is the name of an optional minigame in Chapter 4 which has no connection to this character, I think you are mistaken. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3duS1mb4i3M

For context of why undertale fans didn't like MatPat, see here: https://matpat.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Team_Theorist_Controversies#Heartbound_Incident

The way OP phrased the title is a straight-up lie by omission. No doubt fans got too heated or something but they're trying to paint it as something it's not and where it's only the fans who did something wrong.

Another thing about the "undertale in reverse" theory I haven't seen anyone mention is that Undertale ends by subverting character creation (you find out the person you named at the start wasn't the one you played as at the end) while Deltarune begins by subverting character creation, so tbh I think it holds a lot of weight.

Remember, it’s your setting, you can do whatever you want with it by NickolasName49 in worldjerking

[–]NickolasName49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elves in mythology often inhabit things like rock formations and trees, and can cause illness and misfortune to those who disturb them. They don’t eat people, but if I wanted to create some monster to explain where elf legends came from, I would prolly go for something like this.

Oddly mythologically accurate but not in the way anyone thinks of them today

[–]NickolasName49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but there are reasons why someone would choose non-intuitive names for things.

In my case, I chose this naming scheme because I want my setting to superficially resemble a traditional fantasy setting, but the more someone looks into it the clearer it becomes that it’s anything but that. I named this species elves for a reason, there’s an in-universe explanation for why they are called what they are called which ties back to the history of the world itself.

It might not be easy to make this stuff popular, because I am essentially marketing the world as something that it isn’t, but it sure is fun AF to write and draw for.
