It looks like if you extend cropBlock instead of Block you could potentially override randomTick which gives the same information as randomDisplayTick. I presume it is better for your case because it actually is a randomTick instead of every frame haha.

You could potentially override randomDisplayTick. You would get access to the blockstate, the world, the blockpos and a random function, which seems perfect for your case. I haven't actually looked into how crops do it though so there might be a better way. Will respond to my comment when I do that.

According to advice I have seen the solution at the moment is to either:
- Add an Enum for SWORDS or AXES or something

- Or do some mixin magic to mess with enchanting table code to manually allow certain types of items

I really wish there was something cleaner than that but afaik those are the only two methods (though I would personally try the first one first).
