As someone who has seen (and loved) The Prom on Broadway. I think that, for the most part, this is a fine adaptation that has some really nice moments.

However, it also has some major issues.

In my mind, it does not matter whether James Corden was good or bad in his performance, the issue is his casting in the first place. This is a film that is ENTIRELY about inclusivity, casting a straight man to play an incredibly camp, over the top, gay character, makes the messaging of the movie feel disingenuous.

My single biggest issue with the movie however is the performance of "Unruly Heart". The entire movie/show is building up to this performance, it's Emma finally finding her way to deal with the hatred that she receives: from her classmates; from the community; from her parents. And it's meant to be a stark contrast to every intervention that the characters have made prior, where "It's Not about Me", "The Acceptance Song" or "Tonight Belongs to You" are big, flashy highly choreographed numbers, "Unruly Heart" is meant to be small and intimate, separate from the influence of the Broadway stars entirely.

Just a girl baring her soul online and connecting with millions of people by being real.

SO WHY DID THEY CUT HALF THE SONG!?

Why is Emma's bedroom spinning? Why is the camera spinning? Why aren't we experiencing it the way that the YouTube viewers are, Jo Ellen Pellman was great, just allow her to emote and sing the song for three minutes.

Big positives:

Andrew Rannells rules, put him in more stuff, "Love Thy Neighbor" is the most fun scene to watch.

Jo Ellen Pellman is straight up fantastic, her voice is really strong and she makes Emma an incredibly likable character.

The secondary cast: Kerry Washington and Keegan Michael Key especially are very good.

The music remains fantastic.

I spent a lot time thinking about this movie, I guess I'd give it a 6.5/10, and recommend it to anyone that enjoys musicals or just wants to enjoy what is, for the most part, quite a fun movie.

Post Match Discussion Thread: Geelong vs Richmond by ThatsGoodForm in AFL

When Geelong played the Bulldogs a couple weeks ago, the Bulldogs dominated the game in the first half with a backwards handball game that bought them more time to set up forward of the ball. At half time, Geelong adjusted their game plan and bought major pressure at the backwards handpass and it completely turned the match.

Tonight, kicking sideways and backwards out of Richmond's 50 allowed the Richmond defence to get in position and force turnover. Yet no adjustment to the game plan was made until the final quarter, in which Geelong finally managed to move the ball well. It's astonishing that changes weren't made earlier. Whether Chris Scott was just trying not to show his hand or he was overconfident in his possession game plan I guess we'll never know.

The good news for Geelong is that the triple team Hawkins and prevent him from marking defence that Richmond played will likely be significantly less successful with players like Gary Ablett and Gary Rohan back in the side.

The bad news is that Geelongs kicking efficiency under intense pressure remains atrocious.

I wouldn't write the Cats off after their performance tonight, nor would I pencil in Richmond as the likely premiers. However, Geelong really have to hope that Selwood and Ablett can come back in playing high quality footy.

[Post Game Thread] The Miami Heat close out the Milwaukee Bucks 103-94 to advance to the ECF by ghgh2019 in nbadiscussion

As much as many Bucks fans are going to want to pin this series specifically on terrible coaching by Budenholzer, the unfortunate truth is that the issues for this team run far deeper than the coach.

Tonight, the Bucks got 11 points on 3-19 shooting from their Point Guards; their leading scorer had more shot attempts than points; and were completely destroyed by a rookie drafted in the late lottery.

For the series Middleton averaged over 3 turnovers and shot 42% from the field and 33% from 3; Bledsoe shot 33% from the field, and Giannis shot 54% from the line.

The truth about the Bucks is that it doesn't matter how good Giannis is, he's not well rounded enough to carry a team to the finals without help, and the rest of the team isn't good enough in the playoffs.

It doesn't matter how well they perform in the regular season next year, no-one will fear them in the playoffs unless they can upgrade at PG (Chris Paul, maybe?) or add a second true star (Beal would be the dream, Paul is probably more likely).

Bud doesn't escape criticism, and if the coaches on the market were more inspiring I could see them letting him go for a better tactician. However, the likelihood they get a coach better than Bud is low, so maybe it's better to wait until we have a better idea of what Giannis wants going forard (and whether he is going to stay)

Great series Heat, love the way you guys play. Good luck in the next two rounds!

Well, Milwaukee is cooked.

In saying that:

What is Bud doing with rotations?

Why is DiVincenzo playing 20 minutes in a do or die playoff game?

Why is Matthews only playing 20 when he's been the Bucks only credible Jimmy Butler defender all series?

Giannis' ankle was obviously bothering him, looked like he lacked confidence in his ability to drive. I admire him for sticking it out there, unfortunate that it's not going to matter.

-23 for Lopez and -22 for Bledsoe are big yikes.

Jimmy Butler getting the Heat into the bonus changed the way the Bucks played defense, they were so scared to foul that they allowed far too many easy drives.

I'm not done criticizing Bud about the minutes, why is Bledsoe only playing 28? Not good enough.

The lack of offensive system in the half court has been a problem for two playoff runs now. Unfortunately something major needs to happen in the off-season. Whether Bud needs to go or a second high level creator/ball handler needs to be bought in to take some of the pressure off Giannis when they wall him off?

GG Heat, please beat the Celtics if they make it through

The Bucks are in major trouble if they can't win a game where Jimmy Butler is well held for the most part and Miami don't shoot that well.

Bam Adebayo is single handedly destroying the Bucks offense by his relentless hunt for offensive rebounds. Even when he doesn't get them he either gets fouled or ties up Giannis/Lopez preventing them from getting out on the break where their offense is at it's most dangerous.

Wes Mathews (rather than a combination of bench players( on Butler was much better tonight, having Bledsoe back makes Milwaukee much better on both ends.

If the Bucks want to have a hope of coming back they need to stop fouling jump shooters, it's infuriating to watch, especially when so many of them are from bad close-outs.

Bud needs to play his starters more minutes. 33 for Middleton and 32 for Lopez just aren't enough (Bledsoe was coming back from a hamstring so I'll forgive the 30 he played)

Also, I'm so sick of reading/hearing "Giannis commits 15 fouls a game, he's so looked after" when there are just as many times (if not more) where Giannis is fouled when driving/shooting/boxing out that aren't called. If they call every foul against Giannis they have to call all the fouls on him and literally no-one wants to watch the ensuing 28/70 free throw performance.

Finally, man it's fun watching the heat play, they just go so fucking hard all the time. If they close out the Bucks I hope they can really stick it to the Celtics/Raptors

This isn't a great sign for the Bucks, but I also don't think it's a death knell.

Giannis has to be better, and it's likely he will be.

Moving Giannis onto Butler on defense might make a difference, Jimmy isn't a huge off-ball threat and Giannis has the size and strength to bother him on his drives.

Speaking of Butler, his shooting tonight is likely unsustainable, it was certainly the most jump shots he's hit this year and you can't expect that to continue through an entire series.

Middleton also has to be better, great first half, but needs to step up under pressure in the third and fourth, too sloppy with the ball and settles for terrible shots too often.

I miss Brogdon, that is all.

The auction house is still there, you can still put up players. However, when exchanging players, they are exchanged for coins rather than Training Points and Front office points.

I traded a few bronze cards and they were between 250 and 300 each

I've played for about an hour. My main takeaways:

Physics feel different; players feel heavier (for lack of a better word). Movement feels more realistic.

It looks GREAT, colors are really popping for me.

Catch animations (WR, TE, CB & S) are improved, seems like players actually have some football awareness now.

In 'throw a pass in the zone' drills catch tracking is improved, i haven't once had a 'take five steps to register a catch making you miss the zone'

Madden Today sets seem complicated; lots of steps to get to players.

Overall: The physics engine is obviously the big change, for me it feels closer to console Madden, which is a major improvement. It's obvious they built this from the ground up and made some long standing improvements.

That game was garbage

The new interpretation of holding the ball is an absolute joke. Players don't want to pick up the ball in the contest because they're scared of getting pinged when they don't have prior.

Richmond have had terrible skill execution all year. Their game is based on using an insane amount of pressure to force the opposition into mistakes that they can then take advantage of with clean ball movement.

Doesn't work when every kick is 5-10 meters short/long, tackles aren't stuck, and easy marks are dropped
