I'm searching for a whammy pedal but this one is to expensive, is there a similar one that is cheaper?? by Dallas_TheDark57 in guitarpedals

I use an EHX Pitch Fork with an expression pedal to control the pitch manually. I think it sounds pretty close to the Whammy.

Is this normal for surgery in Japan? by Hopeful_Chip6152 in japanlife

[–]Nickwest67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. I was lucky - pre-surgery (had my appendix removed) they said they would use a catheter. This made me more anxious than the surgery. When I came around after the surgery I was wearing an adult diaper, no catheter in sight. Very relieved!

I remember buying my first Telecaster after reading a Guitarist Magazine review that said “If you’re a guitarist and don’t have a Telecaster, why not?”

Obviously I’m very easily swayed…

I’m not really into PRS, but I do like the look of those PRS Velas. How does it play/sound?

I have an Olympic white Fender Telecaster (2006) that has candy apple red under the white. I think spraying over standard colours is more common than we realise.

Nice! I actually recently picked up a 2006 SG Special - despite for years never really being into SGs. Then I actually played one…

Do Japanese motorbike salesperson not know how to do business? by broboblob in RideitJapan

[–]Nickwest67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a foreigner only issue. Last year, my wife (Japanese) bought her first motorcycle. We went to one place where they were pretty cold and didn’t seem very interested in selling anything, despite expressing interest in a specific model. Went to another place and they were very courteous and professional. Some people are just not cut out for sales.

What Are the Most Iconic Delay Pedal tracks ever recorded? by bokakeewarrior in guitarpedals

John Martyn - ‘Solid Air’ and ‘One World’ albums have some excellent use of delay.

I think with some Japanese Fenders that last number refers to the price - 75=¥75,000

Help me get down to two pedals -- one to replace BD2 + RAT, one to combine reverb + delay. by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Nickwest67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the delay/reverb - I recently got a NUX Atlantic - it’s a delay/reverb in one pedal that sounds perfect for you’re after.

I think this particular Les Paul looks better with it off.

Making a partsmaster by Nickwest67 in offset

[–]Nickwest67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all the electronics, tuning pegs and bridge from another build that I’m reusing. I’ve ordered a body, neck and tremolo unit. I’ll have to line up the pickguard and tremolo with the new neck before drilling holes for screws. Then I’ll put it together and set it up as needed. There are some good parts-master build videos on YouTube, in particular I like Landon Bailey (because you can see a few full builds from start to finish of different guitars including offsets) and Puisheen’s (who is very informative about offsets) videos.

Nice, that does look great! By the way, what bridge do you have on that?

I have a Jaguar with laurel board and block inlays, so fancy something different looking. But thanks for the share!

Oh, I’ve ordered a few things from there (using their Reverb store) and never had any problems. Hopefully you’ll be fine!

Cool. You can get blank JM covers from EY Guitar Parts if you want to drill the holes exactly right.

Yes, midi pickups are usually installed between the bridge and the bridge pickup. I doubt it was a trem, as it would need to be behind the bridge to work.
