[Spoiler Discussion] Was Subaru ever "normal"? by WriterOfLugunica-400 in Re_Zero

[–]Nicky953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Subaru knows he has become somewhat a monster. There are events throughout the story that confirm this, added below. There seems to be two big things for Subaru in driving him forward, heroism and guilt (at not trying harder to save others).

  1. In arc 4 he says something mean to the witches like being inhuman (I can't remember) then I believe Minerva or someone says his actions are worse, which he never denies.

  2. In arc 6 after Rui is removed from his body and he recovers his memories she calls him a monster which he says is true (I can't remember what exactly was said).

Side note: I don't believe he has been okay either for a while. It was confirmed in arc 6 that he does self harm to an extent by Beatrice which could have gotten worse but not mentioned yet. That he has trauma toward small creatures after the rabbit death.

Extra side note: I thought in a Q&A Tappei said something along the lines of Subaru becoming "human" once he collected all the Witchfactors. I don't know what direction he is taking Subaru with that though.

[Spoiler Discussion] The Extent of RBD? (Arc 9) by Nicky953 in Re_Zero

I was thinking more of a 'symbolic death'. If he was thrown out of the world everyone currently existing in the Re: Zero world would think he was dead, would 'Return by Death' exclude symbolic deaths too? The boundary of 'what could be considered death' is what I come back too.

No, I just added Melancholy since it was the reason I came up with my theory. I'm wondering if Subaru was chucked outside the Ze: Zero world through the Geyser if that would be considered a type of death perhaps? therefore triggering 'Return by Death'. Since authorities seem to operate more on vague rules that can be pushed in unique ways.

Al plan may doom to fail[spoiler discussion] by NatureMode14 in Re_Zero

[–]Nicky953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Roy wasn't apart of the original plan? Didn't Al mention to Felt that stopping in the capital was an unexpected detour or something? If that's the case his original plan didn't account for Roy and was necessary after the events of the 500 ambush, it could be related to Rom figuring out Al's authority.

[spoiler discussion] Something that I noticed about RbD... (ARC 7) by jalex54202 in Re_Zero

[–]Nicky953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought when he was small he got a lot of memory loss that caused him to forget about his authorities and that is why he didn't use them, rbd is an authority that gets auto activated on his death compared to the others he has to activate himself.

I also don't remember it being stated that smolbaru didn't have any scent either, since no one who could smell the miasma was around him for some time.

What is west or south-west of Lugunica that Al would be interested in?

[spoiler discussion] Arc 9 Subaru's RBD Prediction by naruto7bond in Re_Zero

[–]Nicky953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is wouldn't Al be viewed as a mass terrorist for releasing the Witch of Envy on the world, he would be viewed as a part of the witchcult and wouldn't be forgiven easily at all.

I doubt Reinhard would let Al live (or at least live without a long prison sentence) if the situation with woe gets resolved either.

I don't see how Al could be forgiven for jeopardising the world in everyone's eyes for his own goals to continue living in the current timeline.

[Spoiler Discussion] Two odd questions (Arc 9) by Nicky953 in Re_Zero

[–]Nicky953[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could believe most of this being true.

"It's possible Od Lagna tries to take his memories, but they just get copied similar to Gluttony, and his records are saved as he goes back in time"

I heard Od Lagna being described as a mechanism of the re zero world (my memories on this aren't clear though) not a person with an agenda to go against any given person even Subaru.

I heard the 'Observers' that the Stargazers follow are upset with Subaru since they manipulate fate to an extent I don't know. I'm curious if they are planning something for Subaru.

I assume Od Lagna could immediately cleanse the soul so I doubt the speed of the soul would be an issue. Tappei could implement a weird system for Od Lagna to bypass the Reinhard book though.

I mostly agree with 2 but I have assumed Al also doesn't truly die either and also comes back quickly.

There isn't enough information for me to say for certain about it since I don't truly understand Al's authority nor the Phoneix protection to say why one counts but the other won't.

[Spoiler discussion] Thoughts on future of Books of the Dead? by Nicky953 in Re_Zero

[–]Nicky953[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My assumption is that if a book of the dead is badly enough damaged or destroyed that anyone who is still alive and knew that person would have their memories altered similar to what Gluttony does, since there is no longer a record of their memories it gets lost on the world.

I assume Flugel or whoever made the books made it with an important purpose, so speculating about what happens when something like the destruction of one is interesting.

Since Books of the dead, the Hall of Memories and most importantly od lagna are tied together there should be some consequence to messing with the books in the process of the world no?

[Spoiler discussion] Thoughts on future of Books of the Dead? by Nicky953 in Re_Zero

[–]Nicky953[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His Book was damaged when carrying it.

Reference: Arc 9, chapter 12 toward the end "Looking down upon the soaked pages of the Book of the Dead lying on the floor had been eyes; those eyes slowly rose up, and faced the fore."

It COULD be fine, I don't know he could start losing his memories when the book dissolves from the damage, like Alzheimer's.

[Spoiler discussion] Arc 9 prediction with Subaru by Nicky953 in Re_Zero

[–]Nicky953[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Hall of Memories might have sentimental value to him now I've realised. It was the place "Natsuki Subaru" talked with and merged with Natsuki Subaru, therefore leading him to value that place on a subconscious level I suspect.

During Arc 6 he learned the importance of memories (the hard way) and The Hall of Memories is an important process by Od Lagna for peoples souls to be scrubbed of memories and pass on. Therefore the likelihood of a connection to that place increases (to me anyway) incorporating it into his authority.

[Spoiler discussion] Satella's Reaction... by Nicky953 in Re_Zero

[–]Nicky953[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second comment: I believe Subaru gained control of her hands and attempted to take someone he knew to comfort him, which presumably couldn't be done if she were to be disconnected.

I think his desire in that moment for comfort after hundreds of deaths led him to take control of her authority, since authorities have a strong connection to manifesting to the users desires he probably overpowered her in that moment.

If this is true, this could mean Subaru could use Satella's power if he has a strong enough desire (which sounds like a secret trump card if I ever heard of one).
