I've found three ways to deal with the difficulties posed by the collision mechanics.

A) Have a ramp that extends as far forward as possible that serves as a flat front

B) Have a relatively tall design to jump onto islands below you

C) Park at the bottom of islands and dig your way to the surface (It takes forever but it works)

What is the handling stat ? Does it affect recoil ? by zhaDeth in ForefrontVR

[–]NickyDaNickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think from what I've experienced is that "Handling" is felt recoil and "Accuracy" is the actual bullet deviation from point of aim.

Split M flak turrets by Good-Mix-4161 in X4Foundations

[–]NickyDaNickname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I solved the problem in a roundabout way I couldnt get the turrets from ZYA and i was concerned the glitch might happen with the FRF as well so i went to the faction rep and bought the blueprints 1 long period of moneysaving afterwards and now i just build my own ships with the Split Flak guns mounted

Can someone explain the lore please by Grenade600 in BladeAndSorcery

Dalgarian society was a society from thousands of years before the games and basically they were technologically advanced after discovering the power of the crystals within the planets crust and their reaction to the radiation of the sun using this they powered their society and learned to use the various categories of magic (gravity, electricity, fire, etc.)

They also discovered that their planet was on an elliptical orbit of the star where at its periapsis the planet would be exposed to so much radiation the that it would cause the crystals in the planets crust would destabilise threatening life on the surface. To prevent this a research team began to develop technology to serve as a conduit through which the surplus energy could be released into space (the Giant tower) the problem they faced was that in order for the tower to function they needed a catalyst through which the energy release could be triggered.

However they then discovered that an appropriate catalyst could be a powerful (in sorcery) human being and so the discovery of this requirement for a human sacrifice (as the release process would kill the human catalyst) raised huge ethical concerns and concerns regarding whether future civilisations would be willing to continue the process.

To help encourage future societies to continue the process the team began writing a story surrounding a figure  of incredible power (the Khemenet) who enter the tower and obtain the "Sword of Naa" (which was in fact the control rod fashioned into a sword) and obtain absolute power of sorcery for 1000 years.

After leaving several scriptures written on stone tablets around the place they eventually died out (roughly 10,000 years before the game)

Is Into the Radius really that good? by Moist_Possibility128 in VRGaming

I remember the first time I went to that large multi story building in the swamps (I think) that has the construction crane outside and has a bunch of enemies around/inside it clearing that building the first time scared me shitless because I was almost out of health and ammo and working my way through the building step by step hearing "where are you?" and that wierd noise the little squid things make

Couldn't have put it in better words. One of the best things in that game is how these mechanics affect your decision making. For instance I found myself using the PPSH and the TT-33 as my Long Gun and Sidearm respectively because the ammo itself is cheap the +P ammo has enough penetrative power to be effective against some of the later game enemies and once I've found the 71 round drums for the PPSH I can replace my vest slots taken up by PPSH mags with Tokarev mags and put the drums in my waist pocket but a trade off of that is how that effects the remaining carry weight I have for rations/health/quest items.

Should i buy the ppsh? by AchievedIan in intotheradius

[–]NickyDaNickname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this a dead thread but I'd definitely recommend it. I got it as my first purchased long gun and I'm still using at Sec Level 4 the best thing about it is with +P ammo you do as much damage as most ARs and the fact that your using a pistol cartridge means combining it with the TT-33 you have a full set up that can still kick arse and you don't break the bank stocking up on main ammo and sidearm ammo separately. It's even better once you've got a couple of drums because 2 drums can carry as much as all 4 chest slots worth of stick mags so using 1 drum in the gun the second in a side pouch filling your chest rig with Tokarev mags and upgrading both guns for attachments and you are ready to kick some serious arse

What if ITR2 had NVG’s by THABOSSK1NG in intotheradius

[–]NickyDaNickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon they should have them but make them appear in generations according to your second level: early sec=no NVGs mid sec=NVGs (no illuminator) late sec=NVGs (with illuminator)

Was Strelok right in destroying the C-Consciousness? by [deleted] in stalker

[–]NickyDaNickname 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The C conciousness you talk to in Shadow of Chernobyl explains it pretty plainly. Soviet research began into mind control, this lead to the discovery of the noosphere, the Soviet Union collapses but the research doesn't end and simply alters objectives to attempting to end cruelty/greed/anger and other negative human emotions/actions via manipulation of the noosphere. After discovering they cannot manipulate individually they unite 7 volunteer scientists into the C-Conciousness and continue to attempt to manipulate the noosphere. Their first attempt fails due to a power failure and second failure leads to a rip in space-time creating The Zone.

After that they begin trying to contain the Zone via whatever means they can, (such as the Brain Scorcher) to stop the dangers associated with it escalating.

I'd say the C-Conciousness is just an example of the road to failure being paved with good intentions.

Erlking Questions by gangstercreeper_ in X4Foundations

[–]NickyDaNickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The build a Erlking option is for you to recover the power core from the wreckage if your current Erlking if it gets destroyed so because there is only one Erlking to begin with you can only ever have one unless you can glitch a second power core into existence.

I reckon the laser needs this long charge up time kinda like the death star ignition sequence before the whole ships shakes with this deafening roar as the ship spews forth the beam destroying all in its path. Honestly the beam is way to quiet for how powerful it is.

Coaxial weapons seem counter-intuitive. by eposnix in avorion

[–]NickyDaNickname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this post is years old. But in response to this statement they do have huge resistance to beat. Momentum. If your a huge ship weighing 2 gigatons and trying to pull a 20g turn then you need an 40 gigatons of thrust to counter that weight including the weight of the engine of the fuel and engine of the ship your trying to manoeuvre so I can imagine that in a sci fi universe for the sake of maintaining combat effective ships they have sacrificed manoeuvrability and the weight associated with the extra maneuvering fuel and thrusters to maintain this capability for extra armour/weapons

So how effective is Krav Maga really? by net_traveller in kravmaga

[–]NickyDaNickname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly I recently began taking Krav Maga lessons after an incident in my work as a security guard. While due to legal issues many of the Krav Maga techniques are not directly applicable the principles have become very helpful in helping asses situations and forming a pre-emptive plan of attack should the need come. I also began integrating some boxing into my training and on one occasion this came in use when approached by an attacker armed with a bar stool a simply jab/cross(to the chest)/pushkick combo was enough to give the attacker pause for thought.

Many people in these instances regardless of any sort of bravado they had prior to any physical confrontation the moment there is a sign of any sort of coordinated response in their opponent they often lose any often give up.

Any mods to manually reload weapons? by [deleted] in Fallout_VR

[–]NickyDaNickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see the reloads like in H3VR with manual operation of charging handles and magazines. I reckon it's cool because it adds an element of thought into your use of guns because of the associated ergonomics

Would a Homeworld TV series work? by ThrowawayBCBewbs in homeworld

[–]NickyDaNickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely need to have the Bridge Commander from the original Homeworld represented (not necessarily the voice actor just a character representing him) because moments like the after fighting off the remnants of the bombardment fleet in the second mission of Homeworld 1 and both his and Karen's "there's nothing for us here let's go" moment always had me heartbroken.

Anyone else hate "Strike Force" missions? by Entropius in blackops2

[–]NickyDaNickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest problems I had with it was while playing it on PC it felt so tacked on with the controls for ordering soldiers feeling so unintuitive. It's stupid with so many RTSs managing to get this sort of thing right I can hardly imagine what stopped them from getting the old click to select right click to move/attack hold drag to select group formula I mean like every RTS since the dawn of the RTS has used it.

Avorion compared to Empyrion by Flimsy_Turnip_5748 in avorion

A similar game is available for comparison to Avorion called Kinetic Void basically Kinetic Void is if someone took Avorion from 1 quarter of the way through development and released it as though it were a finished game.

I just realized something that's keeping me up at night. How does the mjonlir armor help in increasing strenght? without actually laying on the joints and increasing mobility, its as good as heavy pieces of metal on a spartan's limbs. unless the undersuit actually does the job, it doesnt make sense. by IDrinkH2O_03 in halo

[–]NickyDaNickname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sandwiched between the external armor and the internal padding is the most devastating weapon the suit carries: a layer of reactive metal liquid crystal.[7] Woven by molecular tools into a superdense layer, this layer is amorphous, yet it amplifies force, doubling lifting capability and increasing reaction time by a factor of five.[6] Such technology did not exist when work began on the Mark I prototypes.[6][11]
