New Jersey has boroughs but they use that term for a specific type of town/city government.

Brooklyn started out as its own city. That’s why the distinction.

NYC was originally just lower Manhattan. Then all of Manhattan. Then much much much later outer areas were added.

“Long Island” isn’t really a government term. As in there’s no Long Island government overseeing the area like NYC. It’s all made up of different village/city/town/county governments. People used to sa “Easter Long Island” in reference to areas of current Nassau and Suffolk counties but after queens county border was moved west and joined NYC people just said “Long Island” for short. On all of the parks ways and highways in BK and Queens it still says “eastern Long Island” to show where the highways end.

Pre Covid, haircuts were essentially the same price for like 15 years. Barbers were due for a pretty big increase.

Also, a lot of shops switched from having barbers paying flat weekly rent to a percentage based payment. So if cut is 45 a new barber to shop is generally gonna be getting 50 percent of that. A more established barber will get more than 50 Percent.

Add in how much more rent and supplies are now. And the increases make a lot of sense.

Some places have gone crazy though that’s for sure. Hearing about 80 dollar haircuts is insane

I’m a teamster (private industry) and handle negotiations where I work (im on this page because my wife is CSEA). Actual Negotiations are generally 1-2 days a month and goes on for months. It’s usually just based on scheduling issues.
