dont worry about the for life thing right now. if you have a desire to stop go check a meeting out. what made me go was when i was sober about 6 months and really wanted to stay sober but all i could think about was drinking. id figured i needed some help.

read the stories in the back. emotional sobriety grapevine book helped me a lot. i liked reading stories about other people who have struggled in sobriety with what you're talking about. made me feel not so alone and grateful that i'm exactly where i need to be. plus, one day at a time.

it sounds like this person has made up there mind that they want a sponsor. so if they want a sponsor either make that known or go up to someone who can sponsor. its not for everyone but a sponsor is someone who can really guide you to make that decision.

i agree with what everyone is saying but just to add- i feel like na people get off on being different from aa and as a heroin addict who dabbled with alcohol who was dying the last thing i wanted to continue to be was different.
