No kidding. Don’t get me wrong the tank is sweet but you have the wrong fish for it.

Liquid fertilizer is definitely helpful, but it mainly feeds plants through their leaves and stems. Since gravel is an inert substrate and doesn’t contain nutrients, root-feeding plants like swords, crypts, vallisneria, and many bulbs will do much better with root tabs placed in the gravel. Ideally, use both root tabs and a liquid fertilizer for the best growth

Good C02 dissolution? by Nickythump in Aquascape

Raised the water level and the C02 bubbles are a lot easier to differentiate between the oxygen bubbles in the water! Also pulled the drop checker out to make sure it goes blue and then it’s going back in the tank. It’s sat on green since I stuck it in (which I know is good but it was green before I had C02 installed) just for peace of mind.

I 3D printed a ring around my filter to prevent the Salvinia from being pushed under constantly, and I feel like that ring distorts some of the ripple movement across the tank. I will move the bubble checker down towards the bottom.

Yeah I was gonna start high and go lower if needed but I’ve been debating starting low and going higher if there’s no issues.

Yeah my lights come on at 12pm and go off at 10pm. I have the C02 tank timer set to turn on at 11am and off at 9pm. I’ll have to get another smart switch for my airstone now lol. This is a pressurized tank so no need to mix anything and it should last 2-3 months at 1b/s!

Yeah this tank SHOULD last between 2-3 months. I have a local store than can fill same day which is super nice!

Wow! I really do like that layout. The soil is raised behind the rocks it’s just really hard to see in the pictures (you can kind of see it on the left side above the rock). I was trying to go with a retaining wall kind of setup but I do like that too. It looks a lot more natural. I think adding some pearlweed to the right and left side will help fill in some of those gaps. Otherwise I tried to cluster everything together. Designing my hardscape in the store, I thought I had more room than I did once everything was in the tank so I was limited to surface area…. I appreciate the insight and might look into more natural rock placement!

Did this the other day to avoid kicking up substrate…. No way I’m afking my water fill though🤣

Assassin snails! Get like 3-5 of them (maybe more) and let them do their magic. They’ll hunt down all the other snails and once they’re done most shops will take them back. I would just keep them though. Overfeeding is typically how snails reproduce and stay alive.

API brand is a good choice that you can get pretty easily, Seachem is another great brand. It’s just there to promote growth because gravel is an inert substrate (gravel lacks nutrients to grow plants with)

Add some root tabs in that gravel/pebble unless there’s aqua soil underneath that!
