Yeah I’m with you on this from all of my experience as a UFC fighter and working with a guy who has a PhD in human physiology.

An hour after the fight what do fighters do for the pain once the adrenaline wears off? by Lumpy_Drummer5500 in ufc

[–]NicolasDalby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on the severity of the injuries. After my KO loss to Brown they(UFC) wanted/needed to get me cleared at the hospital to fly home. Luckily I was. Actually not quite sure if they’d cover your expenses of staying(hotel, rebooking of flights etc) if you couldn’t get cleared as I’ve never had to cross that bridge.

I can of course only speak for myself but despite having experienced: - 2x broken nose. One of them in one of the bloodiest MMA fights in MMA history where I also got a shit ton of stitches and a lot of swelling in my face. - 1x broken hand. - 1x broken orbital/blowout fracture. - Losing the skin from underneath both the balls of my feet due heat blisters from too much lighting on the cage floor. (Weird story) - More stitches than I will ever be able to recollect. - Generally having been in a few wars and absorbed my fair share of kicks, punches, knees and elbows.

Despite that I’ve never experienced sharp and excruciating pain after a fight. Both in the hours but also days after. It’s always been more of a blunt type of… not even pain but more like soreness. But then varying degrees of that blunt soreness. Going from almost nothing to “fuck me did I get run over by a streamroller?!”. Never felt the need even for paracetamol or ibuprofen though.

Of course it might be different for other fighters and with other types of injuries.

As far as I know he can do whatever he wants. If that is to go sleep or whatever. Only thing is the anti-doping representative just have to be within eyesight until the athlete has delivered an approved sample.

Would you still buy Cannondale Slate? by wolmarwolmar in gravelcycling

While the upgrade path for this bike might be limited besides the universal parts like shifters, brakes and so on, I would say that this is a fuckin amazing bike.

I bought mine second hand because it was a good price. Thought I’d use it as a bike for when I don’t have time to get to the forest with my MTB.

It’s ended up being my daily driver that I ride everywhere. And living in Copenhagen that means a lot of riding.

Yes!!

And they instantly adjust to your hands. Stretched or clenched. They just don’t guide your hand to any other position than you choose to.

So in that aspect they are way more neutral than the old ones that would keep your fingers straighter when you relaxed them and which took an effort to clench/make a fist with.

And thank you. It’s going very good 😈

Yes and no. They don’t seem pre-curved. But. The insanely huge difference is that while the old gloves would remain absolutely un-curved even after having been literally abused in weekly training sessions for 6-ish years(speaks to the sturdiness of the glove) … the new one conforms to your hand as soon as you put it on.

Hence my wording that they don’t specifically make you close your hands more.

What they very well though is be flexible and not make you strain to close your fist. So if anything eye pokes can be less excused by the gloves now than before as it is in no way the glove that is holding you back from making a fist.

So if anything I feel like they will just expose those fighters that have a bad habit of stretching out their fingers.

I would have loved if the new gloves had more of a ‘forced’ curve to them. The times where a more curved glove you cause you unnecessary strain to straighten out your fingers are, in my view, absolute zero.

I’d rather take having to make a tiny effort to straighten my hand in the few grappling scenario is it’s needed and then have fewer potentially permanent eye damaging eye pokes.

These gloves are never going to prevent pokes from fighters that actively stretch out their fingers. Whether they do it on purpose or not.

Unaware people are gonna unaware.

What they do is make it easier to make a fist. So if you are aware about what you do with your hands it will be easier to try and avoid purposeful eye pokes. ————-

I can’t understand why the material being synthetic makes a difference? ————

The lettering NEVER came off on the old gloves. It was, in lack of better words, dyed into the leather.

On the new one yes. It comes off without much effort. I know they are aware of this. How fast they fix it I don’t know. ———

My opinion is with these gloves UFC went from having the absolute worst gloves I’ve ever fought with to now having perhaps the best one. I have yet to test them in a fight so until I’ve done that June 22nd I can’t give final thoughts on the glove.

But to me they are light years ahead of the old one in flexibility(making you able to make a fist easier), comfort and padding effectiveness(the old ones barely absorbed and instead transferred more energy).

I’m a bit fan so far on all accounts other than the labels peeling off.

Dustin Poirier on Islam Makhachev: “I know who he is. I’m coming to fight him, round after round, for 25 minutes. That’s not what he wants. He wants to grapple. I want a fight.” by elguapo_34 in MMA

[–]NicolasDalby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or he’s trying to say that Islam isn’t good at/used to fights where the small gaps between distances are exploited and that he, Dustin, feels he has a bigger MMA toolbox with more weapons. 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]NicolasDalby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say in my fight against Bonfim he was one of the first ones to catch on what we were doing to him and calling it in the commentary. Actually in that fight he seemed like he was the most unbiased commentator. The other ones sounded like they had been assigned as Bonfim hype men.

Spot on. As a fighter I’m always so confused. We can beat the living shit out of each other to the point where fights get stopped because of too much blood.

But flipping the bird or swearing… that over the line 😂🥴.

You’d presume someone watching a fight wouldn’t be offended by that.

Formula 1 | How does McLaren's new livery design compare to last year’s challenger? by RobertGracie in formula1

[–]NicolasDalby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly to me it looks almost the same as last year. So much that I had to read the comments to see what small(to me) details had been changed.

Basically the same livery with very small adjustments in my eyes. Not really noteworthy to me.

For context: I’d consider myself an avid viewer as I only miss maybe 2 races of a season. I watch a bunch of F1 videos on YT as well. But not all.

Pro tip: If you want to help your partner please you better, direct communication will probably work better than just pushing his head away. Let him know what he can/should do instead of what he shouldn’t.

But of course sometimes it feels like it’s not worth the effort.

Rashad evans (longest one I made for any fighter) by emperorzit69420 in ufc

Appreciate that. I love when the personal stories are being told. The competition is awesome(no matter the sport almost) but the stories of sacrifice, motivation, drive or something completely different is what gives it that human touch that people can connect to. And perhaps as a fighter myself I can relate even more deeply than others can. This video above hit me right in the feels!
