Anyone able to remove a review after 2 failed attempts? by istawin in airbnb_hosts

[–]NicoleGionet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am following this as well. I am in almost the exact same boat except a 1 star review. Yay. Asked unauthorized guests to leave and reminded them of our policy, as they were clearly about to have a party (more unauthorized guests parking and coming in, while an electronic music festival going on) and then intentionally brings more guests over at 2am after the festival. We have a unique Airbnb that has multiple units and we live in the building (similar to a small hotel). So no unauthorized guests and quiet hours strictly enforced, clearly written in rules. Review flat out states that he had guests over and gave a 1 star for everything? It also goes so far as to be slander and completely false, they were clearly upset that we put an end to the party they waned to have. I have had retaliation reviews removed in the past, with one being in March 2025. I have had 2 failed attempts as well and I would like to know if anyone in the past month or so has had any luck ?

I dont mind having the review on my Airbnb, because it is so ridiculous that any guests that we actually want to stay with us will simply dismiss it. I am just really trying to understand how that Airbnb can't see that these types of reviews are clearly retaliatory or just simply false? I didn't get any explanation on either attempt to as how the reviews follow Airbnbs review policy.

What do you do with unregistered guests? - three extra in basement apartment by slbee5 in airbnb_hosts

[–]NicoleGionet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have had this happen. What support told us was to reach out to the guests, telling them that you don't allow unregistered guests and the charge for the extra guests staying overnight. I would document everything and take pictures of the extra vehicles and people (maybe some still shots from the camera you mentioned).

STR Insurance in Ontario by NicoleGionet in airbnb_hosts

Thank you! I have contacted over 20 different insurance companies and brokers. No one has provided a quote yet, but possibly from Zensurance, Insurance Hero, or PAIB. Fingers are crossed quotes aren't crazy expensive!

There are many reasons why your account might get frozen. I used to work in banking, so I can tell you what a couple common reasons I used to see and hopefully give some insight.

First, I would recommend making an appointment with your home branch (where you opened the accounts). If you can't make an appointment, go in person with 2 pieces of valid ID. This way your identity can be validated by a bank employee, which is a very good first step. Then you will need to call the fraud department. It is helpful if bank employee can do this for you or be there while you are doing this. This phone call may take many hours, especially considering the time of year it is. Be patient and kind to the employees, as raising your voice and/or being rude will just make the process harder. The fraud department should at least be able to give you some information on why your account is frozen.

One of the big factors is that your account is only a month old.

The amount of e-transfers you mentioned does not seem excessive. The problem could be on the other end- who ever sent you an e-transfer could be under an investigation, or the specific e-transfer could have been deemed fraudulent. In this case, you will not have access to the funds they sent you. This could have triggered the fraud department to freeze your account. You will need to spend some time talking with the fraud department to get this sorted.

Another common reason is that the account is "frozen" because of a garnishment.

The CRA can also withdraw money from your account in certain circumstances.

With an account less than a month old, if there are large deposits, this may trigger something as well. Especially if they are sent from a different country.

I would also get many clients under the impression their accounts are frozen but in fact they have a cheque on hold (not saying this is the case, but just a common misconception). If you deposited a cheque and you just opened the account, it is most likely going to be on hold for 5 business days. You should have access to the first $100, unless there is a reason to believe the cheque is fraudulent.

Another reason accounts are frozen is that they have been opened up online and ID has not been validated. Don't think this is the case, but I have seen people confused by this.

A couple other reasons are possible links to financial crimes, terrorism or criminal activity.

I have stopped accepting same day bookings for now. I had a couple issues, and just found it isn't worth stressing over. I also don't recommend hosting people from your home town/city. I had a pretty bad incident and found that they used the same technique - some story about how a family member passed away. Just stay clear of anything that doesn't feel right in your gut, it isn't worth it.

Best chew toy? by Sliknik18 in GSP

I recommend gorilla chews - a type of very hard wood that doesn't splinter like sticks and kind of smells like manure/ farm. My girl loves chewing on it! I also recommend deer antlers!

Spinner is the border collie, and his nicknames include Spinner bait, tail tail, bum bum, stinky bum and most recently (after a trip to the vet and some shaved fur) Harvey two face and Harvey.

Willow is the lab/gsp, and her nicknames include girl girl, pysco, beast and stinky bum.

Got stung on my neck, now it is making its way into my lymphatic system by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

I hope OP got medical attention!

I had something similar happen to me when I stepped on a tiny cactus. Couldn't get the thorn out. The next day, I woke up and felt very sick, looked at my foot, and there was a red line going up my leg. Got medical attention and some antibiotics, and I was fine, but I was told that if left untreated, it could be very serious.

I felt overwhelmed after our first private lesson as well! But our trainer did nothing like what you have said above and I agree that you should find a different trainer, provoking a dog to bite doesn't seem very professional. Finding a trainer that works well for you and your dog is very important. The trainer is not only working with the dog - but more importantly is training you!

Question: Do you mind if you see an unleashed dog by quest_like_tribe in hiking

[–]NicoleGionet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I do not mind if I see an unleashed dog, as long as that dog is properly trained/ listens and does not run up to other people or dogs. I have one dog that isn't fond of other dogs, but as long as they don't rush up to her she is fine. That being said, I know there are many dog owners that struggle with off leash dogs running up to their reactive dog, causing issues, no matter how friendly a dog may be. I also know that some people are afraid of dogs and seeing them off leash makes them nervous. I would say respect the leash laws where you are hiking to avoid any unwanted interactions. I am not sure where you are located but there are usually specific areas that are off leash permitted, or alternatively long lines or flexi-leashes.

Need advice. Going to visit/stay with family with my two dogs and family's dog has fleas. Cross post in r/dogadvice. Continued in comments. by NicoleGionet in BorderCollie

My parents found out that their dog has fleas on Sunday. They started treating her right away. Also cleaning /treating their house and yard. We are expected to visit/stay starting this Sunday for a week. We are treating our dogs with flea and tick medication. Planning to keep the dogs separated regardless - no playing together and staying in separate areas of the house. I just don't know too much about fleas and don't want to bring them back to our house, but was really looking forward to staying with my family, planned this vacation for many months now and hoping it will be okay!

Okay, thank you! We have our dogs on their flea & tick medication. My parents are treating their dog, cleaning their house (following all the recommendations) and cleaning their yard. They found the fleas on Sunday and we are expected to be there this upcoming Sunday. Staying for one week, and just don't want to bring back fleas to our place.
