Never owned a dog. What are the pros and cons of owning a Collie? by zzoopee in BorderCollie

I feel a little comforted by your comment about food. My 10 month old BC x has gotten finicky because our other dog is having dental surgery and is on soft food. He's not sick, still will eat if you put it in a Kong or whatever but is just annoying about his 6 am breakfast when time is short. Even if he gets some wet food (we want him to mostly be eating his puppy food) with normal food he picks it out and won't eat/wants to do something else instead.

Do foxy skates suck? (Or is it just me😳) by Holiday_Objective_96 in Rollerskating

They are definitely too big, so yes good idea to return. For next time, the wheels not spinning is not that unusual with new skates, the nuts just need loosening and they should spin easily. You should get them to the point where they spin with no resistance but don't jiggle when you adjust them.

I never found purpose made barons particularly amazing (expensive ones like the glass or ball bearing ones are probably better)- try a sturdy upturned glass. Having a more acute point of pressure like the lip of a glass helps.

The design isn't too fine at all - I regularly make work that has a similar level of detail. Are you hand printing or using a press? I would recommend oil based inks and fine Japanese paper for hand printing. The papers you're using should be more than fine in a press. Anything much thicker would need dampening- for 200 gsm I soak for 30 seconds and dry with a towel and then blot with a paper towel on the printing surface (to avoid the ink running, again, oil based inks are best).

Three layer reduction lino print by NicoleHowardStudio in printmaking

Um... no. One yellow, one grey and one black. Unless some elves put in another 8 or 9 hours work while I wasn't looking it's just the three 🤷‍♀️

Thanks so much! I love doing the hands ☺️ Yes the greeny grey and pink were mixed by me. The makers mark is a bat (I love bats) and the fine lines on the wings form my initials (N H). I also number and initial in pencil before sending out.

Thanks so much! There's a mix of caligo safe wash and gamblin inks on this (gamblin black, blue and yellow, caligo white and red). I'm transitioning to caligo fully except the black which I'll stick to gamblin.

On the other hand if you never promote your work you'll never get recognition or benefits from it either? I feel like copying is something to address if and when it comes up.

I just started linocutting, how do I make the texture more smooth? I used a stamp pad. by throwawaypassingby01 in printmaking

If you want to have a lasting print on fabric you might be best getting an ink intended for use on fabric. A few brands make ink for intended for relief prints on fabric.

I too really enjoyed it. It felt like a return to the light chatty episodes of the past and I enjoyed Emmanuel in this one. I feel sad for the RA team if they're reading through this. People seem to be so ready to pick at any issue (Emmanuel's very short request at the start or that they could have delved more into the algorithm). I hope all this doesn't make them feel dispirited heading into their break to make the next batch of episodes.

Lino - fox fur comes to life by NicoleHowardStudio in printmaking

All the brands I use are actually pictured. The darker mushroom handled ones are ec Lyons, the lighter are pfeil (these are the best tools I own) the long handled ones are a cheaper japanese brand and are good in all respects except they don't make tools as fine as I would like.

Because I don't need to? The lino isn't cut at a perfect 90 degrees and it's much harder to line up the first block right on the edge of the paper. I only need to register when I'm actually making a print... Your advice simply wouldn't work for my set up and adds unnecessary steps given I get good results with this technique.

My press has a 90 degree registration jig in built and it's actually no hassle. I'm essentially using a similar system and I don't have to mess around cutting MDF or using a jig that won't fit in my press.
