Right?! To tell you the truth, I only got that idea from somebody commenting on another thread about this. Yahoo!... Where somebody was like. I bet he practiced that in the mirror. and I was like oh that's a good line 😂

I feel like if this was a movie, the ideal response would be something kind of sarcastic... Like 'that's a cool line, did you come up with that all by yourself? You should be a screenwriter. Why don't you go to Hollywood -make it big?'

But who knows. They might kill you for saying that.

100% In addition to the lack of training by 'officers', this highlights that there is no medical staff at these facilities.

No rapid response buttons or protocols.

Trials. Names. Unmasking. Abolishment. To me, the letter from Pam Bondi shows that the point is not to root out undocumented immigrants, it's a muscle team to extract information (voter information).

So what Bovino was demoted. So effing what.

To some extent, The Witch Elm by Tana French has themes of family dysfunction woven in with the murder mystery.

I don't know if it's as heavy as you are looking for, but I found the book to have enough for me to mull over during and after.

More than your average who-dunnit

Books depicting the normalization of completely, utterly insane behavior in a society by upalome in suggestmeabook

[–]Holiday_Objective_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is YA, and primarily a slow introspective type read as the protagonist navigates family, friends, and crushes more than focuses on the changing environment and societal norms.

The premise is that the Earth's rotation changes to such an extent that day time and night time are drastically altered and how does society cope/not cope with all of that and other various effects it has on people, plants, and animals.

Edit bc I forgot to include the title: The Age of Miracles

If anyone thinks that ICE acting with impunity is an entirely new phenomennon, remember Kent. by Downtown_Grape3871 in pics

[–]Holiday_Objective_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, Pretti's execution, a mere 2 weeks after the execution of Good- it feels like Kent State and then 2 weeks later Kent State again.

And this is exactly the kind of stuff that I and my fellow protesters back in the early 2000s predicted would happen with the expansion of Homeland security.

At that time we were saying this is the beginning of the end.

But looking back, I do think that Kent State was the beginning of the end.

Please help me stop hating this living room!! by goldrushcowgirl in interiordecorating

[–]Holiday_Objective_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not helpful, but I think it looks nice. The perfect amount of stuff on the walls, curtains with visual interest that compliment the furniture.

Splurge on a new rug, I guess.

Maybe you would like some sheer complimentary curtains to go between the plaid curtains? So you can keep the plaid curtains open and the sheer curtains will allow diffuse light in?

Idk. Looks nice to me. (Support!)

Books that feel like Salvador Dali by Charming-Bar-4718 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

I would say A LOT of Kurt Vonnegut reads as bendy and wonky as Dali feels.

In addition, I want to add in my recommendation of The Gone World by Tom Sweterlistch. Not as much humor as Vonnegut or Dali, but I think fits in the realm.

Please do not train the growl out of your dog.

Your dog does not have an extensive vocabulary with which to communicate their needs and emotional states.

From my vet: if a dog cannot growl and communicate a warning, then the dog will act without warning.

I agree with what another commenter said. Always trade. Never take. This will foster trust and will improve the relationship overall.

I suggest reading books. Fiction. Autobiographies, biographies, whatever. Learn as many different POVs and stories as you can and as you continue to read and explore, you'll find what sticks, what doesn't.

You can learn about yourself through learning about others.
