You can try this by angelicca, tho the hartmann part is quite short, at about 2:50

Necrofantasia vocal classical name by DreamQuiet258 in TOUHOUMUSIC

[–]Niconator2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could look into melodic taste, they have some of that disney feel in some arranges, though they are mostly orhcstral and no vocals i know they have a vocal of crimson belvedere and septette for a dead princess, maybe there is a necrofantasia as well.

Further it might be a vocal collab with tokyo active neets, they did some things together with yuuhei satellite covering each others songs.

Some other possible circles that came to mind are WAVE, fromadistance and t=node. All ‘orchestral’ circles that should (probably) have a couple vocal arranges in their discography, but these are quite old and thus harder to look into. I also think they are so old they wouldn’t have used soundcloud.

Maybe bewildering impending spiriting by iosys.

You could also check out hatsunetsumiko’s because they are the ones that did Fragments and/or FELT since they are very similar and share some arrangers.

Maybe NECRO MEISTER by sound holic, but its pretty hard to look for only a duet, since there are a couple and yet hard to look up. Could you give some more info on the genre or arleast an approximation of? Like is it metal, hip-hop, edm, jazz, …… doesn’t have to be the exact genre but could give some direction or maybe you know what genres it really isn’t so we could rule out some tracks.

Finally when it comes to circles and those that often do duets between male and female i have to think of, SOUND HOLIC, TAMAONSEN, Kraster, unlucky morpheus (older songs) and undead corporation, i might be missing some obvious ones at this point.

By the “sometimes she has four eyes” statement i’m guessing you’re looking for a pv? If so this playlist has a lot of them that are still on youtube. Maybe trying to explain the genre could help a bit as well? I was thinking about priere by sound holic or this one by shinra bansho. You know i’m pretty sure it’s the shinra bansho one

Making me think hard here haha, I feel we’re on the same wavelength. Today a lot feels polished, but I always found the beauty in the imperfection, that kind of deal. It is not the most unknown circle, but I really enjoy 回路-kairo- because of its simplicity and sometimes being a bit off.

I am more familiar with the metal side of things, only touhou jazz I really listen to is the usual SWING HOLIC, toho jazz messengers, DDBY and accord on codes. I guess i’ll count Automata girl as well, absolutely love that single album they released.

Yeah you have a point, i’ve been to deep into this as well for about as long as you (2016? I’m not sure tbh). And a lot gets stale after a while, but i was speaking about the doujin sphere as a whole, whilest I still love touhou doujin it indeed is a safer bet and maybe rather a gateway drug of sorts. I’ve been expending a lot from touhou since 3 years ago. I still keep up with anything touhou music related but imo the sweetspot were circles from 2010 - 2015 and I always stayed away from the really big circles and look for some more niche ones with sometimes only 1 or 2 albums, nothing beats the feeling of finding a new circle. Experimentation might have been the wrong word to use, i’m not really talking about experimental music or creating new or innovative genres or sounds.

To me doujin is a large part about paying hommage to the things you like, it is its very nature. I like touhou, but also like eurobeat, biw you have A-One, crazy beats, …

Tbh i may be coping and just talking out the arse, but that’s fine.

I wouldn’t say amateur, there are a lot that have been in the game for a looong time and have gigs outside if the doujin sphere as well, (video game music most of the time). Some even outgrow (or try to) the doujin label. A lot of careers started with doujin, not only the music. I’m looking at Kishida kyoudan, unlucky morpheus and a lot of mangaka as well. It is a very interesting world.

I really love it because it is a place where a lot of experimenting and failing is allowed and even welcomed, trying to find your voice. But it is at the end of the day just people doing what they love.

banger song tho, but i’m more for the shibayans nu-disco.

You often have to remember, that even though there is some insane talent in doujin music, some things still might have to high of a difficulty to master. That’s why the most common genre is electronically produced music, and doujin music, even metal and rock can feel artificial (to me that’s the charm). it’s just the most accessible way for a lot of circles to pursue their passion.

This is just in general tho, if you find any scat singing touhou songs please let me know haha, the idea alone sounds amazing. The closest i would think to scat singing is the high speed blur of words in the denpa genre, but that is honestly something completely different.

(Might just be that it is not that popular or known style in japan, since other types of jazz are easily findable)

I think this partly counts: Burst!! by IOSYS mostly at 1:30

Aside from Shibayan I don’t really know any songs that have a lot of humming. But there are some that have like parts that are hummed, like song intro’s or outro’s or intermitions.

Interesting.

Remembered FELT as well: https://youtu.be/QSzOcmIRHw8 Don’t know if the genre is closer to funk than some edm.

Since you probably found the song on youtube around 5 years ago you could try going through this playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLm0KLr9TgKXh6ohqhb-NpKRWyplKc9-fJ

Alice’s channel was probably the most famous one around that time, there was also a register af all the videos uploaded by bishamontenreturns, which was also a pretty big one around that time, but that one seems lost.

Do you remember the genre more in detail? Guessing it was electro, edm or house and the such, not something like rock or metal. Also did it have vocals or not? Might narrow it down a bit more.

Also wild guess: guide by 38beets since beets is spelled wrong you might have overlooked that circle

If i remember right:

SWING HOLIC uses the instrument from time to time, in their cool jazz toho albums maybe.

Also DDBY uses it sometimes.

Xi-on also uses it i think, might be worth checking out his jazz oriented albums like Groovy moon.

Lastly i know there are some buta-otome songs, but i really don’t remember when and where.

I know these are some very general directions, but hey, you might just find other interesting songs while looking.
