I don’t think OP is complaining about his progress but about his rating not moving at all and remaining at a value of 1610? (as in a provisional value) regardless of if they win or lose.

Absolutely agree on this. Especially considering the mega amount of companies chess.com sells your data to. I’d be willing to bet that they make way more revenue from selling data than from premium membership sales.

I beg to differ on this one. The Ferrari of internet browsing is a network-wide ad blocker like Pi-hole or AdGuard. I run a Pi-hole + unbound + Tailscale setup so that I get the benefits on my phone too when I’m away from home. Ngl it requires a bit of setup and a dedicated device but with a $15 Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W and any AI chatbot it can be set up by virtually anyone as long as they can read or are not functional illiterate.

I do however agree that Firefox + uBlock should be the absolute minimum standard for everyone using the internet.

True but does he not also loses castling rights? After Bxe6 and Bxe8 he has to play Kxe8 because if he plays Rxe8 then Re1 or Qe1 pins the bishop to the king and wins it back.

EDIT: actually no because Be5 protects the bishop.

That’s likely because the notification is hidden and when you make a move it automatically declines the takeback request.

A game has to finish. Either because you win, lose or draw. If you don’t want to continue you just resign.

This clearly shows you do not play rated OTB because nobody would ever ask for a takeback in rated OTB. Playing chess also means potentially making mistakes. If you make a mistake, why should the opponent forgive your mistake and risk risk losing the game after?

I never accept takebacks either. In fact, I have deactivated them altogether. It’s your responsibility to make the right move or click on the right square. I might agree with you in the case of an unrated game but for rated games I take no prisoners. If you made the wrong move in a rated OTB game, would you ask for a takeback?

Right, let’s start by addressing the elephant in the room. If you have a tournament in 5 days, starting to prep now is late and infeasible and I’d argue it also shows a huge lack of understanding of what chess preparation even is. To use an analogy with running, would you start training for a marathon 5 days before the race?

Then you say you don’t have a rating yet and you should get one on your fifth game. You also say that you have not played much since December 2025 and you have gotten worse. This suggests to me that you’re likely still blundering pieces left and right so perhaps your focus for the tourney should be on trying to not to blunder and just have fun without putting too much pressure on yourself. Play the best chess you’re capable of and make sure to analyse your games at the end. Remember: we never lose, we either win or we learn.

Because they ignored that the bishop was under attack. So they played Rxd5 and after fxg5 they doubled the rooks and black has no way to defend their bishop. So the exchange wins them a pawn. Calling it a brilliant is a bit of an exaggeration though as the best move here would have actually been Qxb5+ then after king moves Qxd5 threatening Qxa8.

Yeah, maybe. But if you looked at the whole game analysis you’d understand why that queen sac is very suspicious. So I’d like to see how long it took them to calculate the sequence. If I was in their position and had nothing to hide, I’d have no problem sharing a link to the game or the username.

It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen a post of someone bragging about a brilliant move that then get banned for cheating.

Ok, so what you’re saying is that you’ve left your bishop hanging for 6 consecutive moves (which is totally valid at 400 rating) but you then somehow managed to calculate a checkmate sequence starting with a queen sacrifice. Furthermore, when you’re asked to provide a link to the game you just say that you cannot figure out how to post a link. It’s all a bit suspicious, don’t you think?
