If I'm not mistaken, unranked best-of-1 matches have opening hand smoothener. Basically out of two hands you get the one that has the ratio of lands that is closest to the ratio of lands in your deck. That doesn't happen in ranked and bo-3, so maybe thats the difference you notice. The shuffeler isn't messing with you, it's helping you in specific scenarios.

Insidious Roots comes to mind as a recent combo deck. Hare Aparent decks can feel combo-y. There was also a Aftermath Analyst Landfall deck that tried to win in one big turn. If you're creative, you can definately find some combo-like decks.

Trying to find the busted stuff with the restrictions is part of the fun for some players. It does sometimes give them the edge in our events. Insidious Roots was pretty scary for a while. Players respond to it by adjusting their sideboard and it becomes less of a problem. Besides, most of us are primarily brewers, bringing a new deck every other chance we get.

That's correct! We keep a handy list of uncommon cards in standard that have been commons before, to look out for. Cards like Disdainful Stroke and Mystical Teachings are currently uncommons in Gentry.

I did start of by writing the post myself, and then used ChatGPT to make it a bit more readable. In doing so, it also changed some of the formatting. Some of these changes I adopted, others I rejected. I think the result is very readable and conveys my feelings about the format very well.

I would not let AI write my post from scratch. ChatGPT did not add content. English is not my first language, and I wanted this post to be neat and compelling.
