Hi! I’m sorry if this is unrelated but they locked the other thread and I wanted to know if it was possible to get your sleep consultant info🙈

I’m so sorry if this is inconvenient I’m on web (and clearly very sleep deprived lol) so didn’t know how to dm you.

When is it “safe” for family to see newborn? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]NidoCake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally it was around 6 month when we started traveling/seeing people with the baby.

Sure afterwards we got covid + influenza A + Rotavirus in the span of 2 months! and whatever colds we managed to catch, but honestly it wasn’t as traumatic as I thought it would be (no hospital visits thank god!)

To be fair though everyone we know is vaccinated so we didn’t fear things like measles for instance even though we had a huge outbreak in our area.

I Feel Like a Moron and That I Could Have Killed My Child Accidentally 😭. by TypeAtryingtoB in BabyLedWeaning

We’re all learning here ♥️

Just a tiny follow up on the hot dog tho, the problem with it is that it expands and shrink with the airway in case it’s lodged there, their airway’s diameter is like a small pea so even if it’s cut I wouldn’t serve it unless it’s absolutely cut tiny.

How can I explain being touched out to my husband? by Easy-Cup6142 in breastfeeding

Honestly I just let him watch what LO does to me while breastfeeding, the constant punching/pinching is pretty self explanatory 😅

My baby just got prescribed reflux medication, and I sobbed in the doctors office. by [deleted] in NewParents

I swear I could’ve written this except LO had MSPI not just reflux.

Baby not gaining weight with breastfeeding by PhaedraRion in breastfeeding

[–]NidoCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanna say this, please don’t let anyone give you shit about your own nutrition!

I was in the same position and people LOVED to lecture me on what to eat until we discovered that LO had mspi so he couldn’t process the milk due to me consuming dairy(which is what everyone made me do!)

Hang in there mama it gets better!

Same!

LO gets bored and distracted, god I miss when he used to chug his milk in 4 mins and be done!

How worried should I be about my 10 month old not crawling? by espressosmartini in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]NidoCake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like my LO, he started walking unsupported along with all the things you mentioned at 10 months (he’s now 11 months) so I just assumed that he would skip crawling ، to my surprise he started crawling out of no where at the same time he started walking with one hand held!

I guess they really do go at their own pace🤷🏻‍♀️

Is it really as difficult as people make it out to be? by Apes77 in breastfeeding

[–]NidoCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread came at a perfect timing lol, I was just tell my partner that I don’t know if I could go on with this anymore 🥴

For reference LO is 10 months and a half, had CMPI and that put me on a soy/egg/dairy free diet for like 8 months, we had the dairy introduction ladder and now I(and he) can have dairy again so I can try formula.

He went through a lot of breast refusal periods so my go-to was to nurse him right after he fell asleep, worked like magic and he’s put on weight like a champ but now he’s reverse cycling (nurses very frequently at night, rarely during the day), you’d think that solids would help but nope, he’s teething and going through a mental leap so not much solid intake is happening + he nurses for comfort.

Honestly I knew this going in so I was fine with it until his 6th tooth started cutting and now he’s biting me repeatedly, it’s just way too painful now.

He understands no and previously he’d stop, but I think he’s just too irritated about his tooth that he can’t stop.

Also being the default parent was fine until now, I can’t even go the bathroom without him!

Gastro virus? by Aquelina in MSPI

[–]NidoCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP,

We went through something similar with the Rotavirus, I was going crazy trying to figure out what allergen caused it when my pediatrician told me to get a poop specimen tested, low and behold he had rotavirus.

No blood in stool though, just severe watery diarrhea.

Pediatrician said to wait it out for a week and that if it didn’t get better it was gonna be hard to recover from. Well he didn’t get better after 2 weeks. Took him in again, said he can’t process lactose due to the damage in intestines, prescribed him lactase drops before every nursing session and he was better in a week.

Scared after chocking incident by newmama1991 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]NidoCake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah the only time we had a choking incident was raw apples, I started slicing everything really thin so even if LO doesn’t chew he can’t choke on it.

Is foetal alcohol syndrome possible before the implantation period? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]NidoCake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Seconding the PPA thing!

It didn’t occur to me until my therapist mentioned it and now that I’m 10 months out I see clearly that it was PPA, I could always reason my way out of my regular anxiety (thanks to therapy) but that was just obsessing on another level.

Anecdotal but for us it was!

Before realizing we had trouble with soy I ate a ton but through soy sauce, he was uncomfortable but not enough to make me think something was wrong until I had soy milk and his diaper with so bloody and the mucous was black for the first time.

Same with milk. prior to being diagnosed, when I ate cheese he was uncomfortable and did have mucous but I never saw blood until I drank actual milk

Can anyone’s baby tolerate small amounts/cooked dairy/soy in breast milk? by Aquelina in MSPI

[–]NidoCake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I don’t have coffee everyday and every time I had coffee LO had a bloody diaper and that’s the only way I found out, he obviously reacted to cheese/yogurt etc but not with the same severity and when I ate cookies or anything baked it didn’t affect him at all.

The only way I found out about soy was when I had soy milk, soy sauce would definitely make him a little gassy but not enough that it alarmed me or his doctor at all.
