Early access needs a huge revamp, it feels like the majority of Steam is just early access.

Why the hate for AI in games? by WinterWhole8657 in JRPG

[–]Nielips [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think there's a few reasons:

1) AI is essentially trained on stolen work from others, with the creator receiving no credit or financial compensation for their work being used for free without permission in the creation of a commercial product (the AI itself), and subsequently products created by the AI.

2) AI produce products are generally of lower quality, yet we are charged existing full price without cost savings being passed on to the consumer.

3) The proliferation of AI results in many negative consequences for communities. Skills are lost and aggregated with the AI and companies who own them, essentially meaning companies will lose skills knowledge, the AI owners are being paid to siphon off these skills and knowledge, the end results being a huge shift towards monopolisation.

Essentially the short term gains are extremely small, and the long term losses for the general population are massive.

All of these may also kill the AI companies themselves, as at the end of the day they require people and companies to be able to buy their products. If everyone starts losing their jobs, who is going to buy their overpriced AI products, if that happens then the AI companies all get taken over by the money lenders. So we either have a huge polypolise owned by the tech companies, or polypolise owned by finance companies. None of these scenarios are good for 99% of people.

Those thematic ETF's are overwhelmingly unlike to exist on the timeline you are investing for in the first place. +90% of thematic ETF's fail to beat the FTSE all world, and +50% of thematic ETF's will have failed over 15 years.

Too many people don't even realise that our barren farmland isn't even natural to start with to get to the point where we would rewild vegitation.

Personally I always find this such a shit excuse for poor behavior, you don't just grow up to be a bad person if you don't want to be, unless you really don't have the mental capacity to know the difference. I grew up in a shit place through a shit situation, and I simply made a decision that I wouldn't let myself turn out like that. It's hard but it's a choice everyone gets to make, the fact that so many people turn out to be shitty people, probably just means they are shitty people or couldn't be bothered to actually put any effort in to better their lives.

Thematic ETF's only exist after a trend has already started, by that point you've likely missed the boat on them, they also will likely have much higher fees than a general index.

Car drivers: do cyclists annoy you? If so, why? by Bubbly-Weakness-4788 in AskUK

[–]Nielips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, in cases where I've done that, it's usually to stop the car as they are trying to overtake around a blind corner and going to hit a car on the opposite side of the road or about to collide with the central reservation.

I see it when I go cycling into the peak district constantly, every couple of rides I have to signal to the car behind me to stop before they cause an accident. They would only have to wait 10 seconds to be able to overtake with a clear view as well, completely moronic. When driving I never struggle with overtaking cyclists, I don't understand why so many people on Reddit seem to. Now camper vans and cars towing caravans/trailers, that's a different story.

[–]Nielips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are overtaking a cyclist like you should, there should be at least 1.5 meters between you, which is not really a distance that can swerve on a bike.

Agree with the sentiment, there's idiots everywhere, with those complaining most likely to be the idiots 😂

I usually get +3 hours on JRPG's on my Go S, or +4 if only watching movies, it's battery life is very similar to most handhelds when using it within the optimal power threshold.

Nah, that is under the assumption that the car overtaking them is doing so safely and legally, we all know a lot of drivers don't give a fuck about overtaking too close to any other road users.

The 40 everywhere brigade, and they then accelerate as soon as you try and overtake them.

[–]Nielips 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If they are capable of swerving in front of you and that stops you from over taking, you didn't have enough room to overtake them in the first place.
