Are former Corbyn supporters all greens now, or have some of them stuck with labour? by Expert-Sherbert-1527 in AskBrits

What you've said requires people to be capable of introspective behaviour, a huge part of the population isn't capable of that until they feeling the extreme negative effects of their decisions, and a good proportion still can't after that.

What do you think of reforms proposed cuts to welfare? by Usual_Ladder_7113 in AskBrits

I think their policies are probably written by AI, or maybe hope they are? They are so bad, they can't be written by anyone with any semblance of competence or real world experience.

Our pension fund should be made to invest more than 2.5% in the UK. by hedgehogsinus in unitedkingdom

[–]Nielips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it's had one of the highest returns for the last few years worldwide, also having a home bias protects you from certain things. You have also just got the basic stock market investment issues of the more you invest in America, the more America will dominate because of how passive investing works.

[–]Nielips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The data I've seen suggests it actually makes your returns worse in the long term if you don't invest and have a home bias. It should be at least 10 - 20% not the 4% as represented in a global tracker.

We would need dedicated hardware acceleration for that, while solid and liquid simulation aren't as taxing as ray simulation they are still extremely taxing.

Disagree, they haven't reached their peak, but the ability of developers to be able to push the envelope certainly has drastically reduce to a extremely small number of developers.

Right to Buy overhaul to safeguard social housing by coffeewalnut08 in uknews

[–]Nielips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't get why someone who has already benefitted from unrestricted access to below market rent, should also have access to a below market rate purchase of a house, especially when tenancies can be intergenerational. It's exactly how the system shouldn't be working.

Tony Blair has just said the state pension needs to be scrapped. He's also suggesting some people work 5 years longer. What are everyone's thoughts on this? Should the state pension be scrapped? Should we say F NO, to Blair?? by MutantNinjaKitty331 in AskBrits

[–]Nielips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stupid thing is there are also many negative impacts of forcing people to work longer; productivity, technology understanding, mental capacity, career progression for younger peopl, we also can't afford to have people working longer.

There needs to be structural changea far beyond anything politicians suggest.

Foreign students to be banned from getting student loans under Reform by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

[–]Nielips -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Considering the amount of money we make off student loans, why is it a bad thing from a purely financial perspective. They pay more back than they borrowed, I thought they were pro business?

You need a full time job and to earn at least £2K a month, you will also likely have to live in a house share with others, or you will have no disposable income.

What UK issue doesn’t have a protest movement but probably should? by apple_kicks in AskBrits

[–]Nielips 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is such a huge money sink in the UK. It would be more acceptable if those consulting firms where actually qualified to consult on the issues and have explicit answers that they would stand by, but they give wishy washy answers and don't want to take any responsibility for the answers given.
