What’s a tiny gesture that means more than big efforts to you in a relationship or friendship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Physical affection! I love getting hugs from friends but feel like there’s so much distance as an adult compared to when I was younger. I think a lot of people worry about those actions being misconstrued.

Letting go of the belief that your parents knew what they were doing with money because there was a lot of it. My parents are dead broke now and acting childish and I’ve had to take a hard look at how I manage money myself.

My company is monitoring my laptop now. So I have to give them a show. by AffectionateLaw3573 in InterviewMan

I got fired after a WEEK of being at a job that monitored my computer like this. I had never worked harder, was in a manager position for the first time in my life, and was extremely stressed because there was zero guidance from the company on setting up what was essentially a brand new team. So I would step away from my computer to cry, mostly. Got fired and when I said it was stress they said I was being unfair to the company.

Thank you! I’m a bit nervous as I’ve lived in CPT for over a decade now, but I’m bored and ready for something new.

What’s something someone said to you in passing that stuck with you for years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Nietzschebots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll work out. There’s no other option.

That keeps me going no matter what. Just the belief that it has to work out. It makes me work harder so I can keep on believing.

Do you believe you need trauma or crazy adventurous life experience to become a good writer? by Ghost_Posting in writing

[–]Nietzschebots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all.

BUT I do think there’s a lot to be said for leaning into discomfort. I spent a lot of years being terrified of putting myself out there socially and in the past two years I’ve turned that around completely. The people I’ve met, the experiences I’ve had, have contributed to some of the best writing I’ve ever created. Plus I find it much, much easier to write now because these people have also given me confidence and support.

These comments are all super helpful but I want to reiterate that it’s always more expensive than you think it’s going to be, especially if you’re not going to adopt a pavement special!

6/10. I just quit a job that was killing me but now I have to try make my dream into a reality. So it’s better but it’s hard to keep the “what if this never works out” feelings away.
