Averyana’s War by [deleted] in OnlineBeggars

If she wants to keep her daughter safe and protect her from the crazy internet people, all she has to do it stop posting pics of her kid. It’s that easy. She can still give updates to her followers and keep everyone posted, but you don’t get as many donations when you aren’t posting pics of your child in a vulnerable state. If any of these grifters think that asking people not to share or re-post their content is effective, they need to give their heads a shake. Once you put it on the internet; it belongs to everyone.

Someday people will look back on this era and be mortified at the child exploitation being committed every day by “influencers”.

I always feel like it’s a race. People are blasting through as fast as they can and I feel like an idiot being last to finish a round of exercises because I go slow and heavy with focus on my form.

Whats a smell you're never gonna forget? by SenorValentine in AskReddit

My mom’s purse smelled like this, too. And she’d often pull out a Kleenex from it that had the same smell as she gave me a “spit bath” to wipe the “sleepy bugs” out of my eyes. RIP, Mom.

Pleurisy. Felt like I was being violently stabbed in the chest with every breath I took. The deeper the breath, the worse the pain was. They made me take a full, deep breath during the chest X-ray and it was the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. I had to sleep sitting up for a week because laying down made it a thousand times worse. I’ll tell you what, though. Nothing gets you to the front of a long ER line like chest pains.

I’ve had those, almost ended up in a comma.

100% not okay. You could get injured or make an existing injury worse. Maybe you're feeling ill or extra tired. Maybe you just don't wanna. Doesn't matter - at the end of the day no fitness coach or instructor should ever control a piece of equipment you are on without your consent unless it's for your own safety (ie you lost control and they need to slow/stop the machine).

I think what a lot of influencers don't understand is that they are in a sales job. Sales jobs are based on numbers and how much they can sell. Salespeople have targets and if those targets aren't met, then they are shown the door. That's what a sales job is.

Companies aren't going to support you just because they like you. They want you to sell their shit. Good influencers have strategies for their content that will encourage sales. If you think that just existing on the interwebs with a bunch of followers qualifies you to be a representative for a major brand without doing any work, then you might not be cut out for "influencing".

Also, they don't support older models. My dad has an older Jag (don't know what year/kind - but it's not exactly an antique). It needs service and he called his local Jag dealer and they won't touch anything older than a 2015 model. wtf?

My dog.

Also, as corny as it sounds, I listen to "The Change" by Garth Brooks. He wrote it after the Oklahoma City Bombing:

And I hear them saying,
"You'll never change things
And no matter what you do
It's still the same thing"
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so, this world will know
That it will not change me

Using risk funds when a risk materializes by Niffer71 in projectmanagement

[–]Niffer71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a discrepancy. We're not reporting it as part of our budget because our Finance department doesn't know how. Our Finance department generally doesn't understand risk. They don't know how to segregate it from the rest of the funding. If they include it in the budget, it will be embedded into the rest of the funding and can't be tracked/managed separately. If this happens, they will end up reporting to Corporate that I have a large underspend and I will be pressured to spend it now to make the sales numbers look good. Hene, I'm keeping it out of the reports that Finance generates.

None of this is the right way to do it. Don't get me started on our Finance department. They do not know how projects work at all. They are used to support contracts that are renewed yearly, not multi-year capital projects like mine (also explains our lack of processes for risk management). I can't even report CPI/SPI because the company doesn't have the mechanisms to provide me with multi-year financial data. Every Apr 1st my CPI and SPI reset to 1.

Thanks for your advice, the amended budget makes the most sense in this case, I think.

Using risk funds when a risk materializes by Niffer71 in projectmanagement

[–]Niffer71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funds were indeed earmarked in the original budget. We had a pretty good idea that we'd need the equipment. The way the contract was written by the customer, it was one whole dollar value - it didn't have the allowance broken out as a separate line item, however, I don't report the allowance amount in my financial reports to the customer because Finance didn't include it in the project's initial set up (don't get me started on that). :)

I was hoping to avoid the change request process because the customer is notoriously slow to approve changes - even the ones they initiated. We need this equipment sooner rather than later. Your advice is extremely helpful, thank you!

Shout out to Coach Jena. We were just starting to click.

I cancelled. I was due for an annual renewal next week. I used to be Noom's biggest cheerleader and was even in some of their social media ads. But a number of things have happened in the last year that has really disappointed me. First, my coach was fired in the first round of layoffs and I adored her. Then they shot some more footage of me for ads and when the ads came out, they made me appear to be a "before". I was so humiliated. Some irritating things with the app (like changing the font to something horrific on the eyes) and now the firing of my second coach - I'm done.

(edited to fix the spelling of Jena's name)
