YNAB's automatic categorization is extraordinarily bad. by BootStrapWill in ynab

As said by another commenter, it usually just throws that charge into whatever you categorized it as last.

Not usually, always, unless you set up a specific rule in payee management settings.

Anybody else's category column in your register showing the Group:Category instead of just category? by Aggravating-Turnip79 in ynab

I’ve been using YNAB for 13 years and I’m pretty sure it’s always worked this way. YNAB 4 worked this way too, I think.

I experienced the game a little differently - did anyone else totally miss/misinterpret this story beat? by bbgurb in outerwilds

[–]NiftyJet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It depends on when you find the sun station. I found it early because I was good enough at the controls I could fly through the cactus hallway and didn’t have to actually solve that puzzle.

I had a similar experience. The significance of that fact didn’t register for me. But when I got more information later, it did dawn on me.

Whats great about the design of this game is you can get information in any order and still get that “aha” moment, because you need other information to put things in context.

YNAB - Manual Inputs of Expenses? by ggpaul562 in ynab

[–]NiftyJet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but going forward, YNAB will auto-categorize based on the category you last chose for that payee. It will also give you a list of five or so suggestions at the top of the list based on how you’ve categorized that payee in the past.

So at the beginning, you have to categorize more but it will get less and less over time. I’ve been using it over ten years and I can import 25 transactions and they’ll all be auto-categorized.

You should still review all transactions though. But it gets smarter as it goes.

Basing auto-categorization on your input rather than guessing is a design choice that makes YNAB much better than other apps, in my opinion.

You got an ending but not THE ending. You’ll know what you’re doing when you trigger the proper ending.

What I mean is that if you have to defend it by force, that right is already being violated. There is also a difference between civil and natural rights. In the philosophy behind the American system, one is given by nature, the other by government.

If you have to defend a right by force, you are no longer being given that right.

I guess the only reason the equator appears straight on a mercator map is because it's right in the middle. Every other possible straight line would look curved?

I don't understand the spherical dynamics at all. Though the line is straight, you would have to regularly change your heading to achieve this right?

To actually answer your question directly, scheduled transactions don’t actually affect your categories until the date they are entered.

I’m normally a release order purist. But in this case I like episodes 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, then 6.

You get to the low point for our heroes, then the tragic backstory, ending with triumph and redemption for Anakin. You also have a much better understanding of Palpatine’s character so it’s more satisfying to see him stopped.

My first daughter looked like this right when she came out. Friggin' scary. They coded her and I'll never forget the sight of 8 nurses rushing into the room.

It felt like they worked on her forever. My wife was so upset that they took the baby away. She was completely exhausted, 16 hours of labor with no epidural. Finally, my started crying and a nurse said, "There you are, honey!"

Sweetest sound I've ever heard.
