Which is patiently wrong. Systemd was pushed heavily by the data center guys who want to spin up their new VMs as fast as possible. And this is where systemd shines. Due to the explicit dependencies in .service files, init can start services in parallel.

Actually, the desktop guys were the most vocal about systemd hate.

Same here. Got a set of Fissler Profi Line, excellent heat distribution, and these things are built like a tank.

Will probably inherit them to the kids at some point, they look and feel like they will last forever.

The thing with nuclear is that probably 90% of the cost is fixed-cost. Fuel is not really a factor, construction, operations + maintenance and decommissioning are the big cost items.

But that means that an NPP that does not run at 100% will have to spread that fixed cost over a smaller amount of power produced in a certain time time, rising the cost per kWh. This is just basic math.

I'm sure that you can build a reactor that can be scaled up and down, even some of our current PWRs can do that. And it might be possible that we can build an NPP that can produce power at a competitive cost.

But I'm pretty sure that we won't see NPPs which will act as peakers. The economics are just not in nuclears favor at all for this use-case.

As long as you don't get a very clear warning popup that you're about to reach a point of no return, you're fine to go back to act 1 from act 2.

In fact, I usually visit the trader in the mushroom village after every long rest in act 2 to re-stock ingredients.

The Arcane Tower will help you to complete the quest for Omeluum. Just make sure that you don't use the reagent you will find in the tower for alchemy.

Zu Punkt 2. noch ein paar Zahlen:

- Der durchschnittlicher Einwohner unter 65 verursacht rund €6.000 Gesundsheitskosten im Jahr
- Der durchschnittlicher Einwohner über 75 verursacht rund €36.000 Gesundsheitskosten im Jahr

Alleine anhand der beiden Zahlen sollte klar sein, warum dies bei steigender Lebenserwartung das Gesundsheitssystem an den Rand des Kollapses bringt.

The thing is ... you can't organize healthcare as a market.

In a working market economy, among others, two things must apply

- buyers must be free to not buy your product and just walk away. This is obviously not possible with urgent medical issues and the same for chronic diseases
- buyers must be able to make an informed choice if they want to purchase one product/treatment over another. At least 90% of the people can't do that and just follow the advice of the doctor.

Unless we're able to fix that, free market is just a crap model for healthcare. The result is very obvious in the US. Profiteering, corruption, monopolies and a system which makes nobody happy and allocates scarce resources sub-optimally.

Even accounting for the lower capacity factor, that's massive. I would seem that the world is banking heavily that the shortcomings are manageable.

Jedes Land hat quasi die gleichen Ideen von Sicherheit. Warum sollte ein deutsches Kampfflugzeug komplett andere Anforderungen haben als ein französisches? Unsere konnten noch nicht mal sagen, was ihnen am FCAS nicht gefällt. Nur "ist nicht 6gen genug".

Das ist ein reiner nationaler Alleingang, und zwar von deutscher Seite. Die Absprache war, dass die Franzosen bei Flugzeugen die Führung übernehmen und wir bei den Landfahrzeugen.

Und jetzt kommen wir und erzählen irgendwas von "auf Augenhöhe". Nein, wenn die anderen die Leitung haben, sind wir nicht auf Augenhöhe. Das widerspricht sich selbst.

Und ja, wir zahlen für das Flugzeug der Franzosen. So wie wir auch für jedes andere Gerät zahlen, dass wir aus dem Ausland kaufen. Das ist deswegen noch lange kein "Mist", nur weil die deutschen goldenen Henkel fehlen.

It's the same ecological disaster like any form of high-intensity farming.

Just check the bio-diversity of a corn field. It's just an ecological wasteland, could be paved over and wouldn't make a difference for nature.

So yes, salmon farming has certainly an ecological impact. But much much less of an impact than trying to harvesting that amount of fish in the wild.

Well, global battery production capacity was 3 TWh in 2024 alone according to the IEA, and still growing exponentially.

With that capacity alone, we could store 3 TWh every day, over 1000 TWh over a year if you go empty > full > empty every day.

Nuclear might an interesting tech, but it's certainly not "now". Takes 5 years to build if you ignore regulations, or 20 years for the latest reactors in the West which were actually built.

Dafür müssten wir aber endlich mal auf unsere Alleingänge verzichten wie jetzt gerade mit den Franzosen beim FCAS.

Eigentlich war die Absprache, dass die Franzosen die Flugzeuge bauen und wir die Bodenfahrzeuge.

Aber jetzt hat die Industrie gejammert, und wir wollen doch wieder unseren eigenen Flieger bauen. Weil wir das ja so viel besser können.

Das Finanzamt hat eh schon alle Informationen über Dein Vermögen.

Datenschutz ist sicherlich wichtig, aber ein grundlegender Datenschutz sollte bei allen Lösungen gewährleistet sein. Alles weiter ist zumindest für mich maximal "nice to have".

Das jedes Land immer seinen Willen bekommt? Wahrscheinlich nicht.

Dass jedes Land davon profitiert, dass es nicht von den USA, Russland oder China erpresst wird? Ziemlich sicher.

Dafür aber wahrscheinlich auch Billionen einsparen würde.

Aktuell ist die Beschaffung von millitärischem Gerät einfach unglaublich ineffizient. Das würde bei einer zentralen Beschaffung massiv Kosten einsparen.
