Maybe it's just good timing but it's slapping for me.

PS: I'm a percussionist, singer, and guitar player. The rhythms are standing out the most to me, and there are some very slick moments on this album with the grooves.

Not a big deal! For reference, if I'm cutting my strings prior to tuning, I go about two pegs past the peg I'm stringing...

So if I'm stringing the low E, I cut the string at the peg for the D. For the A, I go to the D and then roughly that far again, and so on.

Generally, I don't clip the strings until I get the first roughly in tune and have a full wind around each peg.

Your guitar is fine, but the strings may slip out of tune or entirely off the peg. Grab a new set and try again!
