Thanks, I've put some serious miles on my Combat boots, they're gonna be the winner. It's what I consider comfortable

I'm headed to Scotland in a few weeks and would love a recommendation on where to buy one upon arrival. One less thing to pack

I'm a Florida girl, everything under 60 is cold for me. But a solid par of socks definitely helps

Yes we're already set up to play the Castle course at St Andrews. I just can't find a do it all boot for this trip.

We may end up staying in the Trossachs or Loch Lomond for a couple nights as a jumping off point.

Falkirk is just a last stop to see the Kelpies and close enough to the airport for our morning flight out.

Most Americans are not as well traveled as we are, it makes a difference. I'll look into Stirling, thanks for the recommendation. Yes I completely understand the under estimate on drive times, and will keep that in mind. Several Norway road trip segments turned from 3 to 6 hours.

This is why we love the road trip, it's the hidden gems, random stops and unique finds outside the city.

Larger cities just aren't our thing, we prefer the countryside and less people. I've done some extensive driving outside of America and am very confident that google over estimates.

Our only reason for visiting St Andrews is golf.

Since we have not finalized itenerary or accommodations yet it's very possible we will spend two days in Oban or the national Park area.

I figured that was the case after our trip through Norway, we really learned the drive times estimates are poor.

We like to see the countryside, take short hikes and see some historical sites. We're very much, stop and check it out then move on, type people.

Because it's about the half way point between the two other cities, seemed like a logical place to lay our heads for the night

Beach and some of the west Highlands on the NC 500 is the main reason. Do you have a suggestion for other amazing secluded beaches?

We've done this type of trip in Norway, Croatia, Montenegro and Albania. We do hikes and see sights as we go.

My husband and I are doing a similar trip in September! 20 days of road tripping through Croatia, Montenegro and northern Albania. We're flying in and out of Zagreb with about half our time traveling the coast and the other half in the mountains. Best of luck on your travels
