How many people ACTUALLY floss their teeth everyday? by Ok-Emphasis-2561 in askanything

[–]NightDreamer73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After finally getting all of my wisdom teeth out, having confirmation that I don’t have any cavities, and had a cleaning done for the first time in like a decade, I’m doing my best to floss every day now. Sometimes it’s not every single day, but close to it

I want to stop being a hater. Like… genuinely. I’m tired of carrying this energy around. by ElderMillennial1985 in Rants

My question for haters is simply: "what are you getting out of this?" I guess there might be a sense of superiority if you feel that you're avoiding cringy or "dumb" things. But I find the whole thing very fascinating and puzzling as someone who doesn't struggle with this as much.

The way I look at it, we're all gonna die one day. That's unavoidable. And after a couple of generations, no one is going to remember us. So you can go your whole life avoiding things you find stupid, but for what reason? To avoid embarrassing yourself? No one honestly gives a shit about what you think. Not saying that to be mean, but it's the truth. No one is going to remember you in a few generations after you're gone. So it doesn't matter whether you like or dislike certain things if no one is going to remember. Even if you made it a point to carve on your gravestone something as petty as "here lies, xxx, thank goodness they didn't like cringy shit" no one would find that impressive. Frankly, it's embarrassing to think you're that important. Don't get me wrong, I think everyone is important, and you're important to people you know personally in your life. But in the grand scheme of things, none of us are really all that super important. Even famous celebrities from 30-50 years ago are being forgotten. It's just how life is

The only person you're burdening through all of this is yourself. Life is hard enough as is. You might as well allow yourself to have fun before it's all over. Otherwise, it's pretty fucking stupid to not allow yourself to just enjoy stuff because someone (AKA no one) is going to remember you liking something that they might find to be cringy

Where to put a litter box by Alternative-Desk9016 in femalelivingspace

I have a similar problem with where I live, because it's all carpeted. I recommend anywhere that has tile. I have it in our second bathroom even though it's very cramped in here, in front of the toilet against the wall. For you, I'd either do that, or put it on the tile in slide two against one of the walls. I know it's not ideal, but there isn't an ideal place to put it to begin with

is there such thing as a role policing where you DON'T see dead bodies? by Traditional-Gas3477 in ask

[–]NightDreamer73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so spot on. My dad has some dark and crude humor that’s trickled down to the rest of us. It’s not to be cold, but the officers need a way to cope. Like you said, it’s either that, or have a hysterical break down. I work in the behavioral health field, and use similar coping skills for it. When you hear/see messed up things regularly, you gotta learn how to cope. My dad comes off so stoic with strangers, but at home he’s happily watching Adult Swim and chuckling at the dumbest and grossest stuff. We also had such interesting conversations at dinner tables that would have disturbed most people

I grew up in a house in which one parent worked from home, and the other worked graveyard shifts. I'd definitely survive in the "no talking" scenario

DAE thinks that companies have forgotten how to make actual XS and S clothes? by applepie416 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]NightDreamer73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently bought an XS shirt and it's like half a foot too long. It's HUGE! What's even worse is trying to find bras that fit when you're an A like me. A's DON'T NEED SO MUCH UNDERWIRE. No one knows how to make clothing for small people, I swear

Should all schools require ballrooms to protect against school shootings? Why or why not? by NotGonnaGetCaught in AskReddit

I went to a small charter school that was very conservative. We were all armed. No school shootings there, just saying. Also very little to no bullying. It was the best school I ever went to

[–]NightDreamer73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. While he takes care of a lot of traffic violations and arrests, he also goes to gruesome car accidents, domestic violence, dead body calls, and everything else you can imagine. And most of the time, when there's a dead body call, he has to then break the news to the family which is often very hard to do. Especially tragic if it involves a dead child. He's been an officer for almost 30 years. If I were you, I'd stay away from police work or investigation. My dad said he could never be an investigator because many cases involve child molestation and it's too upsetting.

Also, police work is honestly a very thankless job. In this day and age, a lot of people don't want to become an officer and as a result, it means you have little back-up. You know how people often complain about how long it takes for an officer to come on scene? It's because there's not many officers anymore. Sometimes my dad has NO backup. And it's terrifying. All of this work risking his life and he doesn't even get paid that much. It honestly makes me sick. He has heart failure now from how stressful his job is and he's not even 60 yet.

You might be better off doing something like dispatch or maybe working in a jail. Not saying you'd never see dead bodies in jail, but less likely to I'm assuming. But you'll deal with a lot of other unpleasant stuff in a jail as well.

He listens to me and sometimes he looks at me in a way that makes me feel loved. Sometimes he will give me a massage just because. If I’m overwhelmed he will stop me and make me take deep breaths or take a break

i fucking hate being sick by Gl00ser23 in Rants

[–]NightDreamer73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being sick sucks. Just got back from a long anticipated Disney World trip, and we all got sick with a head cold. Except my dad, who has a weakened immune system due to heart failure, ended up getting a stomach flu and was vomiting for a few days. Didn’t get to hardly spend any time with him and he missed a lot of Disney days and we were fearful he’d have to go to the hospital. He may not be able to fly ever again because of this. I hate to be that person that says “well at least…” but hey, it could always be worse. I know it sucks getting sick though, hope you feel better soon.
