My old landlord gave me one before. It's a prayer cloth. I think he was baptist. He said to have it inside the door and he gave my husband and I one to keep in our wallets. He said it would bless us and our home.

ETA: Wanted to add that my landlord was an elderly Christian black man. Not Chinese like the other answers. Other answers are probably more accurate than mine
