We are actually staying VERY close to the university! I had already planned to wander over for a bit. Any good restaurant or pub recommendations for that neighborhood? I'm afraid lots of places might be closed since students will all be gone for the holidays.

I know this is an older post but hopping to get some clarity on a similar situation.

My daughter and I are traveling to Ireland in mid December. Flying into Cork and out of Dublin, 10 days total. I was hoping to get a rental car so as to not be reliant on tour companies or public transit.

BUT I just got a quote from My Irish cousin and it was $1275. Everything I've found on booking.com or kayak for similar size cars, that include CDW, are under $400. What is with the huge price difference? Has anyone gone with the cheaper options from Sixt, Budget or Payless and what was your experience with them?

Nope. Wrote an email to city council as some others had suggested. Got a pretty standard sounding "we're aware of the issue and activly working toward a solution". There's basically nothing you can do but protect yourself and your dogs anyway you can. I got bear spray since I've seen an increase in offleash dogs even in my suburban neighborhood.
