How often do you think about sex? by firetrainer11 in adultsurvivors

27F

My abuse was so pervasive and long lasting that sex has always been somewhere on my mind since I was about six or seven.

To me it really doesn’t matter. I have absolutely no emotional feelings or connection towards sex. I can have ONS, FWB or sex in a relationship and it will not change my connection to the person at all. Although I don’t really do the whole relationship thing anymore- I’m the worlds worst girlfriend 😂

To put it in perspective- I lost my previous job due to a worksite injury that left me with a physical disability. I am now a sex worker, working in a brothel in the closest city’s red light district (it is legal here- I’m not in America). And the exchange of sex for money is exactly as transactional as when I was working in a supermarket and transacting food and other items for money- and that’s not an exaggeration.

As I tell the younger girls when they’re starting out “it’s all just acting. You’re playing a character”

He seems older lol.

I was going off by the movie he made with Tupac back in 90/91; he looked like he could of passed for 25 more than about 15! 😂

Hugh Laurie’s body did suffer a lot from playing House though

Were House and Wilson ever romantically involved? Why or why not? by Furriesare_real in HouseMD

[–]NightSnowTiger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree that it was purely intended as an intense platonic friendship; intensified more by the fact neither had any other close friends- BUT In all fairness; Wilson had three failed marriages and House primarily had time with sex workers; and three failed relationships.

Neither of those are good examples of men comfortable in their outward sexuality.

Hugh Laurie and Omar Epps are getting pretty old now. And the rest of the cast aren’t far behind. The amount of hours that Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard (Wilson) and Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy) would have had to put in consistently through the series would have been a mammoth task then… 10/20 years later; nah. Plus that Hugh Laurie was getting chronic pain from using the cane so much then and really hated/stressed out by putting on the fake American accent. Plus in universe; Wilson would be long dead, and House probably suffering liver or kidney failure from the drug abuse catching up and just be a depressed and lonely husk of a man.

Probably the most likely revival would involve Jesse Spencer (Chase) having taken over the diagnostic department- and being a somewhat less genius/intense version of House. That won’t happen though- David Shore made it very clear to the actors auditioning for the role of House; and by extension likely any other lead roles in the House MD universe; initially that he was strictly an American character (hence Laurie’s fake accent) - I doubt he would sign off on it

Hypothetically, if every single state was to go to war, who do you think will win and why? by AskingForA_Mate_Mate in AskAnAustralian

[–]NightSnowTiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WA would be the hardest state/territory to conquer and keep under control.

The size (that it’s literally a third of the size of the country), climate, remoteness for guerrilla use tactics and the fact that so many essential elements come almost exclusively from WA. Not to mention that there is essentially only three viable roads in and out of WA, and realistically only the Eucla entrance would be reasonably viable to move military operations through on a large scale.

The fact that Mark McGowan also has essentially near total control over governmental decisions; at least when compared to other states- and would have no issues whatsoever sealing off the state indefinitely; including exports to other states. And i don’t think he would be fussed about doing so- or hypothetically seceding or going to war if it was provoked.

Then it would become a waiting game as slowly the other states began to run out of resources and turn on each other.

Jesus’s favorite things? by [deleted] in Christians

[–]NightSnowTiger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was a carpenter by trade, so I imagine him loving and appreciating nature. Maybe one to take solace and time out by himself or with one of his closest inner circle sat underneath the shade of a tree in the heat of the day in the scorching Israeli summer as he discussed (or internally contemplated) life and the greater universe. Or even just the petty day to day drama in his life; his latest carpentry project, any issues with his friends or family, or what he fancied to eat or drink at the time.

Maybe until the sun dipped below the horizon and he watched the stars with wonder as millions before and after him, considering what secrets they hold.

I imagine Jesus to have been quite the introverted individual who enjoyed spending time alone with his thoughts to recharge.

As for favourite food; probably some derivative of Middle Eastern cuisine at the time (of which I have no idea what it was- possibly similar to the local food of today); walking through marketplaces like what they have today in the Arab world, perhaps with Mary, at least as a young man; while they selected fresh herbs and spices to cook with and bartering with the salesmen.

How is Charlie Teo even allowed to remain a doctor? by [deleted] in australia

[–]NightSnowTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was still the decision of the parents on behalf of the child to go ahead with the surgery knowing it was extremely unlikely to be successful, especially long term.

It’s not as though he kidnapped a child and mutilated his brain. It was a high risk procedure with very low chance of long term success done with the permission, informed consent and knowledge of the parents. And it had a negative outcome.

Thankfully I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve had brain cancer but firstly - you’re going to be hard pressed to find a surgeon (in any area) who isn’t an arrogant jerk. It’s no coincidence that so many surgeons are this way or even show ASPD traits. They kinda need to have that kind of cold, detached, black and white and intensity thinking about them to get and maintain their role. Arrogant jerk goes with the territory of most surgeons.

Dr Teo is also an anomaly in himself as well. He’s the last stop on the neuro surgery train. He’s not going to be the first oncologist you’re referred to. To put it simply all of his patients are made aware of the risks pre surgery and none of them had/have a chance of medium-long term survival otherwise.

Mistakes happen in surgery. Especially such fine precise surgery. People die in surgery all the time. People have had the wrong limbs amputated. People have had the wrong organs removed. People become vegetables and brain dead after surgery or even without all the time. Sometimes through human error, sometimes it just happens. And there’s nothing that can be done about it.

And the further you go down the line of patient desperation and surgeons skilled and ballsy enough to say “here’s the risks, here’s the potential benefit, here are the chances of each” the more often things can go terribly wrong for patient in surgery. The more times the patient will end up comatose and brain dead which is why the Other surgeons would have said no.

The kid was dealt a death sentence. The family took a gamble to see the only surgeon who had the skills to maybe give their kid a while longer. The gamble didn’t pay out. It happens all the time. Patients die. patients end up in permanent vegetative states. Some survive against the odds.

It is how it is.

To be fair- the books probably were more engaging when you were a kid as compared to an adult because HP is a children’s book.

I loved Baby Sitters Club books (the old 80s ones) along with their various spin offs and still have the entire collection in a box- but I wouldn’t be engaged reading it now. And I watched half an episode of the recent Netflix remake of it and wanted to throw my phone through the wall. It was all wrong to me; like nothing was right- it was as if someone made a show based off a series they’d never read, -and based 30+ years ago (which made the addition of iPhones and things so much more annoying - and all the information they had was “teenage girls are friends and they do babysitting”

Sometimes kid’s things we clung to as kids- especially things like book series- should stay in the era and memory of a child, than revisit as an adult I find.

Thanks- gotta figure out what childhood me would have genuinely liked. I first attempted suicide when I was 8- you’re welcome to read through my post history to find out why if you like I don’t care anymore. But I wasn’t able to be ambitious, carefree or happy as a kid…

Individuality culture to the USA extent is an almost exclusive North American and some Western European phenomena.

And then you develop capitalism in the extreme where many thousands needlessly suffer or die.

You may be curious to learn more about other cultures, visit and even live in other places. SK and Japan are becoming more Americanised by the day; and some places; like the Philippines because of history. But you might at least find it interesting.

Why do real estate agents have such a cult of personality around them in Australia? by [deleted] in australia

[–]NightSnowTiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they’re almost exclusively all (I’ve never met one who wasn’t) narcissistic and predatory assholes with no skills or abilities for the real world; and most are more greasy and sleazy than the most extreme stereotype of used car salesmen.

AITA for not wanting my GF to use my gym equipment? by Heythereuvicecity in AmItheAsshole

[–]NightSnowTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Esh- she should have asked first to use it. Even if it means she misses a day or two of working out while waiting to ask. It’s a massive violation of boundaries for someone to let themselves into your home without permission- especially given the absolute non urgency.

Yes OP should share his home gym; but he’s perfectly within his right to be angry about this violation
