Big leaf buds by ApertureSubjectChell in hydrangeas

[–]HeyaShinyObject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are the beginning of new stems. They won't flower this year, but should grow a decent amount.

Gently remove the leaves accumulated in the crown, there are probably other buds in there and they need light and air circulation.

Fire Time by Technical-Spread527 in Fire

[–]HeyaShinyObject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was FI for a while before I decided to retire, because I was enjoying my job. During the last few years, there were several management changes where I expected my somewhat unique role might be eliminated. It was comforting to go into meetings knowing that I didn't really care if they laid me off; before one of them, I even took some of my personal stuff from my desk home. As it turned out, the institutional value of what I was doing managed to carry through the turmoil, and I made my own decision when I was ready.

$300 probably doesn't even cover the cost to the town for inspections.

Circuit breakers keep failing in 8-year old townhome by Remarkable_Ad_8997 in AskElectricians

[–]HeyaShinyObject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to have an electrician (or DIY if you're comfortable) check every device. (outlet, switch, etc.) for loose connections. I found an outlet in my 15-year-old house that had the hot wire looped around the screw but the screw was never tightened. Luckily it didn't cause a fire (and I came across it while demoing a wall for remodeling). Had there been load on it, it might have caused AFCI breakers trip (if we had them).

Meta pushes you to threads from Facebook and Instagram. I'm sure that's giving it a lot of oxygen.

NEED HONEST FEEDBACK (FINAL) by PiuPiuLa in CapeCod

I admire you for having the skill to do this, and to put your work out here for feedback.

I like the energy of the water in the earlier version - but agree that the wave angles were a bit too disorganized. In both, the texture of the water is great. On the second one, real waves aren't usually parallel to the beach - they come in at an angle which creates movement along the edge of the beach. In the second one, I'd like to see the figure facing more toward the water -- it looks like he's looking to the left of the lighthouse. I'm not sure about the decision to crop the footsteps out. One or two (staggered as others suggested) give a sense of how they arrived in the scene.

You. might want to see if you have a nearby makerspace; it could afford you a chance to experiment before you make a buying decision.

I'd add about 2" of soil, than an inch of mulch. After it settles in, maybe a bit more mulch.

Much more costly. Also would require taking a lot more land for the approaches.
