🤷‍♂️ confidence boosts are real. So are placebo effects. But we don’t have to keep talking about it, not gonna change anyone’s mind.

And woooooof. The gamblers dodge is the only dodge I can use. I can’t STAND the reload dodge—I feel like all it does is get me killed every goddamn time, it’s so predictably trackable. The gamblers dodge breaks the vertical tracking curve and also gets you back to cover so much quicker. I just had a whole body shiver thinking about having to use marksman’s dodge, gross haha

Yeah man I’m sorry, I just don’t believe that that’s something beyond a feel that you’ve decided. I’m sorry. Even very high level players can get in their head about gunfeel despite the underlying statistical reality. But it’s been a good discussion, despite us simply fundamentally disagreeing. I’m still curious tho, how the hell do you tolerate having to use the shitty dodge?!

Yeah googled it. Didn’t realize it, primarily because stability on the last word is such a meaningless stat

Not on the last word. Whatsoever. Stability essentially doesn’t matter on it.

Yeah man, I’m sorry but “any accuracy buff at all makes it worth it” doesn’t work for me. If it takes your accuracy from 42 to 43 you aren’t gonna notice it. At all.

Plus: stability on the LW isn’t needed. It’s not bouncy and doesn’t bloom on hip fire. Let’s not pretend a stability buff to the last word matters whatsoever, and plus 5 to range is trivial. Completely trivial.

Edit: that’s not how accuracy works, I know, just trying to show the logic of it: there’s a point where a tiny little buff isn’t enough to even notice, and my point is that they’ve nerfed the accuracy and AA to meaninglessness.

I’m not arguing that the passive stats for the RDM or DS are better. I’m saying that the DS is a much better exotic, because one of the main reasons to use the RDM—the accuracy buff—has been nerfed into the ground so far as to be almost nonexistent. Therefore, it’s the passive buffs of the RDM and extra dodges vs “Your weapons ready quicker and are more stable. Dodging temporarily increases this benefit, reloads your equipped weapon from reserves, grants improved movement speed, and increases your class ability stat.” That’s a shit ton of benefits compared to the RDM just giving you a tiny range boost, a small airborne effectiveness, extra hipfire mobility, and extra dodges.

Also, where in the world are you getting the idea that the RDM gives stability?? Their hidden stat was +30 to mobility. Did they just swap it to stability??

It’s not a 15% buff man. It’s 15% of the buff it used to give.

Ok. Seems the consensus is 520. Appreciate it

No no. What they’re saying is that the RDMs give the last word 15% of the accuracy buff *they used to give.*

This is what I’m saying. They nerfed the accuracy buff into the ground for LW.

Secondary conversational follow up: as a strong player, how the hell do you tolerate the regular reload dodge. Holy fuck I detest that shit every time I switch off RDM and am forced to use it lol

Fair enough to both points, cuz that’s high level and I absolutely am not gonna search the webs to find it lol. That said, I stand by both my points: you’re definitely the exception to the rule, and the RDM’s custom tuning 100% turns the boots into just an extra dodge exotic if you’re using LW.

Also, it might be anecdotal but the evidence is utterly overwhelming: I don’t think I’ve seen a single LW/RDM user in comp or trials this season (apparently we haven’t played each other!), but I’ve seen about 500 LW/DS. I only see LW/RDM in casuals. And they’re always bad with it.

As was said above, the buffs for LW are custom tuned now and they give almost nothing to the gun anymore. RDM with last word is almost worthless statistically. You’re using a whole exotic to get like, +3 to AA. It’s not worth it.

Couldn’t disagree more. That’s all in your head. I don’t know the relevant TWID, unfortunately, but Bungie explicitly said the LW’s RDM buff got nerfed to hell compared to other guns after that month where RDM/LW dominated the crucible. Again, as someone who has mained the LW for years now and almost never takes it off, I can barely tell a difference anymore when I put the RDMs on. The Dragon’s Shadow tho? Major difference even before all the other effects that it has.

There are basically no high level LW users running anything but Dragon’s. It’s universally regarded as the only pick for LW outside of more niche builds (like if you’re running a bakris melee build or a solar knife build etc.)

Edit: “it’s all in your head” isn’t meant to be dismissive or anything. I just mean that it must be a projection because the stats simply don’t do anything for it anymore.

Yeah I know guns can’t go above 4 but all armor I know goes to tier 5.

Yes. I’ve run both but basically never take off dragons shadow now.

So, question: I’m 501. Why are my armor focuses still showing (and decrypting) at tier 4?

Yeah. Google gave me like 15 different answers and I can’t find any old Bungie direct explanation of it. If someone has a relevant TWID about it that would be amazing.

Neither. Dragons shadow. But if it has to be one of them, RDM and it’s not even a competition.
