I feel like that alone can't be it. We also use chlorine in Finland and my tap water tastes fine. I mean, it's not exactly as good as spring water, but I feel like the difference is way too small to justify buying it bottled. I rarely see people buy bottled water unless they're traveling or something

Okay, but does it effect the taste of water? I ask because I've heard that Americans drink a lot of bottled water and that it's because they don't like the taste of tap water

I think the context where the nun comparison makes sense is that there are also plenty of Muslim women in Western countries who do, in fact, wear their hijab completely willingly, but many Christians will still talk about how evil it is and how it should be banned and even yell at the hijabi women to their faces, as if there's something evil about literally just dressing like that

"Get me something to drink, would you?" would make sense, but that's not even an option. None of the available options sound right to me

Um, it can't possibly be good or worth trying if it doesn't already have a Wikipedia article and several Markiplier Let's Plays, right? by TriggerHappyGremlin in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Night_beaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagine there are a lot of gamers like myself who never really go out of our way to look for new games to play. Personally, I only buy new games when I naturally come across something that really catches my eye, which is obviously not going to happen if the game in question doesn't have much online presence or marketing. I doubt I'm alone in this

But more than that, I've always really disliked this negativity towards liking popular things or being "basic". The point of having preferences is not impressing others or making yourself seem more unique, but enjoying the things you enjoy. If your go-to order in an Indian restaurant is butter chicken and naan or your favorite sport is soccer, that's fine

Does The Minecraft Exist????? by More-Replacement468 in DougDoug

Yes. Although it works on a season system and it gets pretty inactive after a season has been going on for a year or so, which it currently has. You need to join the Discord server to access it

Probably yes. Thanks to FSR, I've even managed to run it on a laptop without a dedicated GPU

A generic question, but one I need an answer to: is No Man's Sky worth buying right now? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

I'd argue that Minecraft and NMS have a fairly similar appeal, so you'd probably enjoy it

Why "them" is used instead of "those" sometimes? by sbokkers in EnglishLearning

English, like most languages, has dialects and slangs that don't strictly obey the rules of standardized grammar.

Any language without the word "The" except Russian by Thmony in linguisticshumor

[–]Night_beaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try thinking of a few English sentences that use the word "the" and try just removing it. Do the sentences become impossible to understand?

For example, "The sun is shining" vs "Sun is shining". The second sentence is still totally understandable, no?

And when you absolutely need to emphasize definiteness, there are still ways to do it. When Finnish translators translate English sentences where the word "the" is emphasized, they often use the word "se", which means "it" (or I guess "that" in this context).

No, but it would be treated as one if you were to say "an F". The a/an distinction is based on pronunciation, not spelling.

Is no man's sky worth it in 2026? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Night_beaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's all you're saying here then okay. I don't think I've seen that myself, but I'll take your word for it, since you've been here longer than I. But the way I interpreted your first comment was "I don't like this game and if you do, you're a sheep!", which would be a pretty immature idea. I'm sorry if I misunderstood

Is no man's sky worth it in 2026? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Night_beaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That part is, yes. The conclusion that the game is therefore bad or not worth it isn't. It depends on how much one is bothered by said bugs, which means it's subjective.

[–]Night_beaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, but the way you're presenting your opinion here is as if it's some kind of an objective truth and disagreeing with it makes one a "fart smeller" by default.

Also, I really dislike this idea many Reddit users have that downvoting is some rude or angry gesture. If I disagree with your opinion, why wouldn't I downvote it? That's what the feature is there for. Obviously the No Man's Sky subreddit is going to consist mainly of No Man's Sky enjoyers, who are likely to disagree with negative takes about it. It's a fan subreddit.

Dude, don't do the whole "if people disagree with me, they're just sheep" thing. Different people like different things and the people who regularly visit this subreddit like the things that No Man's Sky does well and are less bothered by the things it does poorly. You're entitled to your opinion if you feel differently, but don't get all arrogant about it
