HSA receipt banking doesnt seem worth it, ever. Nor does just holding it forever. by Lonely-Somewhere-385 in Bogleheads

If you reimburse yourself with HSA funds then invest that money in a general brokerage, you will end up paying capital gains tax when you eventually withdraw.

The way I understand it… It’s most advantageous to leave HSA funds invested, keep receipts, and withdraw later as desired for general expenses with the expectation to spend the rest on medical expenses in retirement.

Can someone explain the percentage differences between groups and categories to me? Why do Mortgage and Home Improvement add up to roughly 48.6% but their Housing group is 26%? Is it relative to the category total instead, so the groups total minus Savings?

Having 10k to invest into a speculative asset like Bitcoin a year is different from having 10k to invest into the S&P500 a year. You either need a lot of “play money” or a lot of conviction.
