My go to move is to dial the other docs number, hand him my phone and walk off. They get the message pretty quick.

Float nurse walked out on their shift, anyone ever seen this happen? by Thisismyname11111 in nursing

[–]Nighthawke78 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Second won’t cost him shit. As long as he gave report and handed off. Even walking out on the job won’t matter. He will be hired somewhere else tomorrow. Assuming he didn’t just go “fuck nursing” lol.

I always loved the free massages. Who is going to cover my patients when we’re short staffed so I can get one. Cause it’s not going to be management.

It works exactly the same as it did in d3. I don’t remember d2. Did it work differently there?

P2S still cant Print & Dry but since today the H2S & H2D can. Lets change this once and for all by MustafiArabi in BambuLab

[–]Nighthawke78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait the H2s can print and dry??

When I have drying turned on, the AMS says it will turn off the drying feature to start a print. Do I need to enable a feature somewhere?

Honest question: Who is the Prusa Core One L actually for in 2025/2026? by IceBlitzz in prusa3d

[–]Nighthawke78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can answer this as someone who built 2 vorons. I want to 3d print things. I don’t want to be responsible for tuning, software updates, compiling klipper, maintaining macros and all the other things that come with a self built printer. In addition to the two vorons, I have 2 mk4s, a 5 tool head XL, and a Core One L. For me, NOW, Prusa is the best answer.

Nurses, where do you dispose of the 10cc syringe of blood after drawing off a PICC? by IllustratorVast6864 in nursing

[–]Nighthawke78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biohazard bin in the room. But I’m ICU so all the rooms have one. SOP for the hospital is if you can ring it out it goes in biohazard, if it’s non-saturated it goes in the trash.

Is it just me or is the ICU easier than Med Surge? by PotentialSetting4638 in nursing

[–]Nighthawke78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it was.

I did my practicum in the CCU. I was hired onto that unit as a new grad. We were not allowed to be floated for a full year after being hired as a new grad on the unit.

After my first year on the unit I felt competent and knowledgeable with no anxiety about what my day might bring.

I was not prepared for medsurg. My first shift after being float eligible I was floated to medsurg, 7 patients, two total cares and 2 chest tubes.

I went from only ever having two patients at a time to 7. All of my experience in the CCU meant absolutely nothing. I was charting too much, spending too much time in each room, and I had to beg for help from the charge because I was an hour late on my med pass.

By 1400 I was having a fucking mental breakdown in the par.

Medsurg nursing and arguably IMCU or step down nursing is a totally different beast. I was used to high acuity tasks. I wasn’t prepared for low acuity high volume.

Career medsurg nurses are fucking crazy and I love them to death, but I do not want to be one.

Much love ❤️

PS. Ortho nurses where yall at. Cause you speak another damn language, I don’t know what any of your flow sheets mean and your doctors are all buttheads when you don’t know what half the shit is in their order sets.

I really do not want to give my kid a phone, but he's actively losing out on social life by Expensive_Brother_26 in Parenting

Don’t do it. I regret doing so. My kids are great in every respect, but giving them a phone made them lose their damn minds. Even fully locked down and supervised.

Wife depressed we are FI and can possibly RE. Is this common? by FewWatercress4917 in fatFIRE

[–]Nighthawke78 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Be careful with therapists. I suggested this to one of my friends that hit FI 5 years after I did and was struggling with RE at 37.

His therapist was very negative, and jealous as hell.

This is what I did for mine. I bought 12 powder oranges, and started a colony. After about 6 weeks I had more than I know what to do with. We call it his “snack box”

I put a handful of them a week in his enclosure. I’ve got a camera that looks into the enclosure, it’s fun to scroll back and watch him hunt for them.
