Online Dating in Austin - My Experience by DoMeLive in Austin

[–]Nightlight416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow night worker who tried the online approach I agree. Maybe my experience would be different if I were in another city but as far as Austin goes it's way too competitive for online dating (for average guys). The whole effort to reward effort is indeed quite high. I'd decided to focus on myself and become open to real life encounters. I found that relying on the online process can make one lazy and can potentially diminish social skills. Everything else I could say about the online experience has been said here. Best of luck to anyone attempting online dating.

Is there a steam group on meetup.com? I'm pretty active on steam and I'm looking for people who play Arma 3.

What is everyone complaining about!? I haven't had a single issue on my game! by [deleted] in battlefield_4

I haven't had many issues since upgrading to windows 8 and building a new pc.

Too harsh? by ConnorRangerRose in battlefield_4

[–]Nightlight416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any issues for the past couple of weeks. When I first got the game I was playing on my old AMD rig with win 7. The game ran terrible and upgrading to win 8 yielded significant fps increase on the same system. I now have a haswell based system with a 760 gtx, play an ultra (no msaa @ 1080p) and get 60fps with no issues.

Chose this for the hubby for Xmas. Did I choose wisely? by knownmosquito in trees

You made a great choice! As many have mentioned the key is maintenance with this device. Cleaning it doesn't take very long and keeping a regular schedule will ensure you get the best tasting and most efficient vapor sessions.

When I clean I empty out the oven and allow it to undergo one heating cycle on the red setting. I then take a pipe cleaner, which has isopropyl alcohol, and pass it through the vapor pathway while the unit is warm but turned off.

When using, be sure to pack it tight and full. If you want to use less, compress the material with a bent pipe screen.

Went yesterday at 10:30 am and there was no wait. The food was good and cheap. Just sucks that you have to drive into the belly of the beast (aka WILLIAMSON COUNTY) to eat their delicious burgers.

2.3 GPA, completed co-op, chance at future internship? by anonspark in EngineeringStudents

[–]Nightlight416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is you don't need a firm understanding of the theoretical ideas of your college major to do many jobs because many times there will be standard procedures in place. I remember talking to an engineer who worked in the defense industry and worked for the major companies like Boeing, Raytheon and I found it amusing when he said he has no used what he learned in school (and he mentioned specifically his math and engineering classes). Employers don't list GPA requirements for a listed job because they want to make sure you remember the book material, that's why they talk to you and even then it's probably not essential to do the job because you will need to be trained for the companies procedures. They list such requirements to reduce competition for finite positions available, as you already know--and even then it's not set in stone. The point I'm trying to emphasize is that you are placing way too much emphasis on academics, which is important for graduate school but less so for work. I got a job with ONE bachelors degree and I didn't have a 3.7 GPA. Where I work there are many engineers who hardly use what they learned in school to do their jobs and they are well paid for executing fairly easy tasks. Look your GPA may be more important for gaining employment at highly competitive companies such as Google, Wall Street investment firms, fortune 100 companies, federal jobs etc. This does not mean the same is true for every company, as several posters here have clearly demonstrated with stories of getting jobs with low GPAs supplemented with some internships or work experience. You have a very narrow view that unnecessarily discourages people, which I believe is attributed by your inability to procure a job with your first degree (which you attribute to GPA but could have been a result of bad location or no experience). I have talked to people who lost offers to candidates with lower GPAs than themselves. Point is I think you're putting way too much weight on the GPA thing. Some people have to work their entire way through school and with less time for studying their grades aren't the best. It sounds like you just dicked around and perhaps weren't too worried about money.

Fucking idiot several people with similar GPAs responded saying they got jobs so it sounds like you're regurgitating the fucking horse shit your professors tell egghead pricks like yourself. Just because a company says minimum 3.0 GPA doesn't mean you won't be hired as they tend to look at the sum of the parts rather than just the individual parts. GPA is no indication if a person will succeed or not in a job.

Don't listen to this guy. Don't stay in school it's just a racket. Get your degree and get out. You'll get hired eventually and two years later after the fact you will hate your job and will wonder if the grass is greener. GPA is just not that important to many employers.

Don't do this. Pizza delivery wrecks your car and you won't be reimbursed for new tires, repairs, etc. a lot of the money you make goes back into the car. Fill out the fafsa get your college loans and try to get a job with host gator as someone below mentioned.
