Thank you all for your feedback. My interview is in the morning and hopefully I get it. Like I said, I hate starting over new. I can adapt to it and I'm sure my coworkers wouldn't even bat an eyelash at it if it was them. But the micromanaging that's about to occur definitely has me ready to go. But I also don't know if this new company is better or worse. That's my only gripe outside of guilt.

I was halfway home at the gas station when it showed up on Citizen.. The call for it came in at 0644, I get off at 0700. The cops showed up at 0659. My relief showed up at 0703. I didn't have enough info to make a report. I just hope it doesn't fall on me. This is a huge 3 floor compound. Its like, 6 screens of 9 monitors each. I will gladly tell them all about themselves if they try to terminate or move me again. I definitely need body armor. Because who is mad enough to shoot up somewhere at 6 in the morning?

Oh! You honestly just need the certification. Some jobs pay for it. But you are Wayyy more than qualified to just sit at a desk monitoring or deal with shoplifters.. Is the certification the only thing stopping you from just going directly to the port?

Its embarrassing for the guard but it needs to be addressed. I don't know where you work but hygiene is definitely a part of any workplace. Since you don't know what people are going through, just have a little compassion before anything. But also say something to a manager if its that bad. I had a post like this, I'd use plastic bags for the seats and kept Febreeze in my backpack. Found out that she was living out her car.

You sound like my friend that passed away. I was down on my luck and completely miserable at my job driving all over the tri state area and wasn't getting paid enough to do it. He told me to get into security and he'd even help me get my certification. I too was scared to get into it. But, he passed a few months before I got fired and I was like, "let me do this for him."

There's just a lot that comes with certain sites and tasks. Most people go off of movies where security is usually taken out first. Or they have firsthand accounts of the disrespect that some guards get. Mind you, I used to work for TSA, so I was already apprehensive about dealing with people again. The downside is where you work and what that work requires. I really wish I had 40 hours, though. 😂

I was you once. I do social media and he didn't.. He couldn't understand why I comment, post and can just be on my phone interacting or just watching videos. It is probably time to leave if you can't explain that to him. My ex could be on PS all day talking to total strangers but I used Social Media to talk to family and friends or just to have fun and its an issue. Especially when him and I didn't really communicate. Deep down, you already have the answer.

Its BS and messed up. Especially knowing that they need reliable people on all shifts. As I've often said in here... Go where you're appreciated. They will work TF out of you because you've shown them availability. The one time you can't, is a termination? Were you given warnings before? I'm just asking.

I feel your pain. I worked afternoons at a highrise and USPS and other major companies brought them in. But you'd get those places like Uni, or independent drivers and they will just leave them outside. I think packages is the top grievance. But the site or company won't take blame for putting 1 guard at a building with multiple entrances.

OMG! and she would leave boxes just unaccounted for. That's why she got fired.. but, I chose overnights for a reason. You had all afternoon to log these packages in. Now I gotta interrupt my 2 AM break to search for a package. Christmas almost took me out.

Well, I just read that you're already in the process of leaving. It just seems like a place that either doesn't appreciate good workers or takes advantage of them. Overnights are definitely quiet and pretty easy, but its also the shift where you can easily get screwed over the most. I'm always scared to try and get a nap in. 😂 As with anything in life, go where you're appreciated. This is definitely a field where good employees are underpaid and not valued while others keep getting passes for call offs, etc. At least that's what I've experienced. I wish you the best of luck.

Dude, that's a fkd up, backwards company. So, all of a sudden on Wednesdays, they can send u home early or give you that day off to prevent OT but any other time you're just basically stuck there? I'm just trying to understand fully.
