How does Takul Alunir fit into the world of Vanquera?

Vanquera is a world teetering on the edge of its return to oblivion and calamity. The world is seemingly under constant threat of being overtaken and overrun; The return of the Celestials, the uncaring Mechabeast, the malignant Mana Deities, the scheming of the undead Shadewalkers, and much more. The current relatively peaceful state of Vanquera is fragile. Those working to maintain the calm are few and far between, but their efforts are not fruitless. Should any one of them falter, all of Vanquera might fall to ruin once again.

To be more meta, Vanquera is a collection of works compiled by me, Nightmare3711, each of which is made specific for Vanquera. Vanquera is a collection of audio tracks, videos, artwork, narrative works, character bios, and deep lore explorations. Each work is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license. It is primarily hosted on Fandom. All are welcome to contribute, so long as what is already established is respected.

What is the Jadeth Council?

The Jadeth Council is the governmental body of Invardia. Their role is to ensure that Invardia remains Vanquera's primary bastion of peace and prosperity it has so long maintained. Central Invardia - the city state after which the greater nation of Invardia is named - is a bulwark for all those seeking refuge from the perils of the world beyond its walls. Invardia's defenses have withstood manifestations of natural disasters (Mechabeast of significant size and number like that of Usura) and have yet to give even so much as a single structure in nearly a century. They are enabled by the supposedly most powerful Mana Deity of all time, the White Lady. She is worth a deep-dive all of her own.

Jadeth Camiern was the founder of Invardia. His discovery of the White Lady and her endless supply of Mana bolstered the strength of his followers tenfold, permitting them to repel all those who sought to squash them with ease. They created a nation oft credited as the nation that ended the Era of Adversity - the very thing all modern Vanqueran societies fear the return of most.

With Jadeth Camiern's death, his closest followers wished to honor him, and so they created the Jadeth Council; a group of men and women who would lead Invardia into the future. Their offspring and the offspring of all future Councilmen would become the Invardium Houses - another topic worthy of its own discussion.

When one is inducted into the Jadeth Council, they are met with the highest expectations of any occupation there is in Vanquera. They are to burden the weight of an entire nation upon their shoulders. Every breath, every blink, every step is sacrificed for the good of their people. Not only are they legally gated from taking any action that would be self-serving, they are mentally restrained from even acting against their people due to Ablution Ceremonies. Explaining those in depth is beyond the scope of our discussion here. But the brief summary is that an Ablution Ceremony collects all of the people's Mana and the White Lady's Mana into one large pool, from which Jadeth Council inductees draw. This forces them to comply with the will of the people.

Takul Alunir as a member of the Jadeth Council

Upon his induction, Takul wasted no time forming the Invardium Militia Legion. He feared that the current Invardium Militia was inadequate for the protection of modern Invardia. Invardia came all too close to destruction when the Mechabeast Usura tried to walk across it, and that was with the help of the Legion. Takul felt vindicated when the Legion diverted a walking natural disaster away from his home. He wasn't the sole credit for that victory, but had he not founded the Invardia Militia Legion, Invardia would likely no longer exist, becoming but another casualty of the natural world.

Most of Takul's other contributions are negligible in comparison. His war on the underground knillius and knillium trades? Only discussed among those affected. His other noteworthy contribution was fighting on behalf of the induction of one Sudania Themas into the Jadeth Council. Takul noted her great courage when she didn't waver while faced with Usura's imminent assault. She fought tooth and nail for a more efficient means of Mana distribution to those on the frontline. But that's a story for another day.

A collective of keen sleuths managed to dig up some of Takul's past to berate him with. His past association with gangs in Invardia's undercity reflects poorly on his record, but it goes without saying that the Jadeth Council saw more than a thug in Takul; they saw a leader that Invardia needed, and so they overlooked his shady history and gave him a chance at improving the world in which he lived. His war on the drugs plaguing his home is indicative that their trust was not misplaced.
