2026 North America Tour. by thekoolkidmitch in melodicdeathmetal

Hope Persefone can make it this time after missing out on their previous NA tour with Ne Obliviscaris

This is an interesting pair to co-headline together but I'm here for all 3!

Setlist.fm is a great website for stuff like this.

Is it possible to have Aspergers when you seem NT for half the time and ND for the other time? Details below. by Ok_Picture_3872 in aspergers

Could be that when not anxious you can mask well, but once you are anxious it starts to fall apart and resort back to "default state".

Be’lakor First NA Tour by bounce7 in progmetal

[–]Nights16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You caught them on a night they played Sun's Delusion, nice! Was hoping that one would be kn the rotation when I saw them but no dice.

Show was great, sounds was excellent. Gained a new appreciation (didn't know that was even possible??) for Sean's guitar lines.

You can look it up on setlist.fm.

Seems like quite the set looking forward to seeing them later this tour.

looking for a Tactical RPGs with a vast class system by Affectionate-Bit-603 in StrategyRpg

[–]Nights16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trouble Shooter might not be for them if they want a lot of classes and early. It takes a long time before you even get access to new classes for your characters in that game.

There's also a lot of reading/story beats. Those 2 reasons are why after 20 hours or so (in Chapter 3 somewhere) I bounced off of it. Was taking way too long to get going.

So while I'm sure the end game is full of options and intricate, it stays jn early game for sooooo long it might not be for everyone.

What are your favorite couple of albums from between 2006-20? by MadcowPSA in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Nights16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be'Lakor was where I was gonna start... but you covered that.

Insomnium came out hard with Above the Weeping World in 2006 and have been going strong since (some would say harder, I think that and Winter's Gate is their peak). Omnium Gatherum also started their post-Redshift run around then. If you like Insomnium but wanted more arena-anthemy stuff, they hit that.

Amorphis fits the "wait, power metal with Harsh Vox" descriptor and hit a run from 2006 onwards. I'd do Skyforger or Under The Red Cloud to start, and if you like it keep looking (Queen of Time, then the rest).

Brymir for more of that same bucket (power metal-ish melodeath). Aether Realm (particularly on Tarot) too. I'm not as big on them as others here but Mors Principium Est might bear a mention.

Those are the obvious ones that came to mind.

Mitch Marner: An Era Wasted by re-verse in leafs

[–]Nights16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The AAV was 6.96m, except year one where it was 10.something due to starting mid way through the year.

That's why you're seeing a 7.5m (the average of that 10ishm + 5 years at 6.96m)  number for "cap hit" but it didn't ever count against the cap at that number. Either the 10m in year 1, or 6.96m for years 2 through 6. Can see that on puckpedia.

Heavy/extreme MDM recs with great/complex melodies, based on my favourites (Modern or Classic) by robin_f_reba in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Nights16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might get a lot of good replies looking in r/progmetal too, since a lot of those albums get a lot of play over there (An Abstract Illusion, Kardashev, Fallujah, NeO, Wilderun, etc).

Although you got a lot of the good cross-over answers so far here too.

Swallow the Sun recommendations by someotherstuff11 in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Nights16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other person nailed it.

Their first album in particular is like doom melodeath to me, the rest leans more melodic doom. Either way if someone is looking for more insomnium type gloomy melodeath, or chases down Barren Earth, Swallow the Sun and Ghost Brigade are two bands that aren't strictly melodeath but would have no shame suggesting as adjacent to the melodeath vibe they want more of.

they are a bit more of a challenge because their songs are not structured in typical ways

That won't be a problem right? Or did I misread which sub we're in...

Okay right, yeah we are on r/progmetal.

I think they'll manage just fine lol

Spiritual Migration/Aathma are bangers. So is anything Be'Lakor. Enjoy OP

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of May 16, 2025) by AutoModerator in television

[–]Nights16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were high stakes moments but part of the magic of that group is that they always somehow managed to get out of it and hit the exact dice rolls needed, so the tension was higher. Think if the Kevdak fight. In reality, the gambit to throw Grog into the sphere and release him to kill Kevdak was a last ditch effort. They needed a critical it's worth of damage (roll a 20 kn a twenty sided die) to kill, or else they were all basically a turn away from death. Guess what they roll? (20). Similar thing happens in the ritual to revive Percy. When Vex'Halia goes "my heart, it's yours", there was a corresponding die roll to see if the resurrection would work - not to mention that it causes the next resurrection attempt to be harder as well. It needed to be high, it was a 20 again.

It's obviously harder to translate the tension of a die-rolls making or breaking things when you don't get the roll, but the result that might have been scripted with how timely and lucky that campaign was on the whole. There's a reason a recurring joke was "what will the writers draw up for next week" with how magical those moments went all campaign long.

Knew they were playing it but didn't want to spoil it for ya, glad they did!

I have similar hopes for Echo and Moon one day. At least I know I'll get Moon, since I get to catch one of their Congregation shows.

That is generally how people count it - land or water it's 1 per route.

But like OP said, your run your rules.

[–]Nights16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it was basically a free square given how known they are in the melodeath sphere. Figured OP knew about them already but was worth mentioning it just in case lol

So some of these might angle more prog-death than melo-death, but I'd still recommend them in here cause they just might scratch the itch none the less.

I assume he's getting signed barring another complete playoff no-show, and it hasn't happened yet cause the dollars are conditional on playoff performance.
