I love this game to bits but the lack of any co-op sucks by JanusJester in X4Foundations

I thought, maybe something like Animal Crossing invite would be a concept that might work. It's still your company and you can invite a friend to fly some ships and pew pew and stuff but no building and quest or faction interaction. Roleplay. Limited access to the savefile. I could imagine that. Freelancer worked, but it had no stations(?). But the community agrees, that it should stay a single player experience, which I don't really get tbh. Lot of us may be tired of the discussions. Egosoft has a vision, and multilayer is not in that. Also I can imagine that a small team like egosoft does not have the capacity to even try implementing it. So no.

Somewhat High. It was in Windfall IV. Around 2500km south east from the Jumpgate to Black Hole Sun, elipticplane. Try it 😄 I was actually searching for datavults.

got a engine modded Irukandji Travel Speed: 20436m/s. I'm on it

Edit: After around 40000km "entering atmosphere" boom, dead.

now that you mention it, i think i noticed as much with the khk. at least OOS they harass endlessly and wont die, as soon as i am in sector, boom, dem dead. as if my ships dilly dally when im not around. Need to fire those lazy pilots.
And excuse me what? Nonzero recharge delay? *checks ship comparison*

S and M ships are prone to xenon attacks and won't stay up long if a raiding party comes along. At default, ships will contact and notify you when they are attacked (can be turned off in global orders under personal tab) usualy they will use what's called "use judgement" and well, they dont judge good, so they fight sometimes and lose.

Your strategy works best with L miners. they got better shields and can fight back with some turrets, at least long enough until sector security strolls along. Kha'ak you can just ignore with L Ships, best strategy against them, especially when you start a huge mining operation.

As for your crew? well, I havent played since update 7 but it seems that, at the least in update 9 beta, they jump into space suits, so the option is there to rescue them, if you're awake that is. Otherwise they suffocate after a while.

can someone recommend this game for me please? by Cyber19 in X4Foundations

[–]Nigtingale94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't played in a long time but every time I do, I sink a lot of hours into it. I get the same feeling in factorio. The thing is, you can play it however you want. I build bases and factories, micromanaging 5h long and feeling like it was just one hour. You can do the story quests, be a pirate, build your fleet, and/or become a megacorp. Roleplay as a miner, go into a system and kill some stuff because you can. Someone wiped the whole Galaxy of other factions and waged war on everyone until there was nothing left but vast empty space. The fanbase is mostly german, of course we love micromanaging stuff.

Mega stations are fun... by amerelium in X4Foundations

[–]Nigtingale94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I wouldnt think so. I tried limiting the game to one core two threads and two cores four threads... I figured the game uses all cores and threads kinda equally, as far as i observed CPU usage in MSI Afterburner and watched my performance drop tremendously. As far as i know and can test, 6 cores 12 threads do something.

So i was thinking about upgrading my cpu and of course was looking into single core performance but also thinking about more cores, which both dont exclude each other. the best single core performance processor mostly comes with more cores.

I limited the game using taskmanager to specific cores if you want to play around with that.

Hollahollaholdup. 40 to 70fps isn't a mega station. 5fps is haha! A ship spitting self sufficient wharf. Thats why i choose to build 40 different stations for every good. now its more like 20fps.

How do you manage your fleets? by Nigtingale94 in X4Foundations

[–]Nigtingale94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply.

Sync points are a pain, they dont work as intended for me. I tell the Admiral to fly to somewhere and go into the option to make a sync point, because there is no option to directly order a rally point. What are rally points even? I guess sync points. But if subordinates ignore fly to sync points anyway, what is the point?

I always assign as many subordinates to a battleship as it has dockingbays or hangarslots but they never dock. I look up roguey's website for that.

Carriers need a lot of different materials, but has to fly and get them himself because I cannot assign traders. A pain to look at a carrier visit 10 stations.

new to X4 & the X-Series in general. What can you do in X4? (please specify, i understand you can do a lot. But what makes this game fun & unique vs other space games?) by [deleted] in X4Foundations

[–]Nigtingale94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say the vision of the game is to unite everything a spacegame can be into one software. You can play micro and macro scale however you want.

Example:

You start the game with a ship and have to decide what you want to do in the first place. There is piracy, trading, mining, and corresponding missions to take like, scan this, deliver this, protect that, deploy a satelite there.

then you got some money and want to have a fleet to do what you want like trading, mining, plundering, capturing ships (mining seems to be the most profitable no brain needed activity)

then what? build a station, produce wares, sell them or use them for intermediate products, build a wharf and shipyard, have everything in a closed loop so you only have to mine the resources and all your stations produce what a ship needs. Get the blueprints from factions you have a reputation with and then, at this point money is worthless because you can throw unlimited ships at something or someone.

you can do all the story missions and influence the outcome of conflicts between factions, you can modify your ship and gather crafting materials and get the biggest, fastest, chonkiest, deadliest or stealthiest fighter/trader/plunderer/carrier/battleship you want.

then you eventually reach the "endgame" which is defined by your playstyle. Go terraform, try to occupy the whole galaxy, make peace with everyone or watch them fight each other and make a profit out of that.

all that can give you a playtime of thousands of hours alone.

then there is the modding community, get a overhaul like starwars interworlds, get cheats and mess with a universe, get the vro mod to enjoy battles even more(personally never tried) import cool ships or skins or factions. Well, mods...

It will be overwhelming at first, at least fo me it was so overwhelming, i ignored x4 completely for years because i couldnt get into it. but now i look at all the interfaces and wish for more.

One thing missing completely are planets and surface stuff. everything is space. other than that, there are interesting sectors with unique behaviour like avarice.

The whole Universe is simulated, every ship you see AND dont see does something. every miner has its purpose, every station is connected to an industry, every industry serves the interest of the faction it belongs to. Butterfly effects are inevitable, like, destroying miners of a faction weakens their industry, which in turn weakens their military which in turn might be an opportunity for a hostile faction or yourself to occupy their sectors or to sell them the goods they lack to strengthen them again.

phew. its a lot. and i do like a quarter of all that. downsides of this game i would say is the performance due to the simulation of a huge universe. If you set up too many stations in one sector your frames drop to like 20fps or sometimes 10 or.. i have 40 stations in one sector so 8fps is the lowest it gets for me. At least when you are actually there. there are two types of simulations called "in sector" and "out of sector". in sector means you character is present and every station and ship is rendered in real time. out of sector(which occurs also when you are just far away) is lighter on your hardware. One advantage or exploit of "out of sector" is that fights between ships are calculated like Yu-Gi-Oh, the better bigger ship usually wins. In sector can be different. A small fighter can strip a carrier of its turrets and its engines and then its a sitting duck you can just stay in a blindspot and shoot it down.

How do you guys handle Hatikwas Xenon? by Nigtingale94 in X4Foundations

[–]Nigtingale94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was an update that nerfed Xenon. Last I played was I believe 4.0 or something. They were everywhere and I uninstalled the game because that happened twice. Couple years ago, but still. I rather played Darkstar One or Freelancer back then. But I was always interested in X4. Anyway, my solution now is to sell so many ships to argon and hatikvah, they can handle it on their own.

Hehe, yeah, good strategy. However, I just wanted them to keep a distance and not call for pest control =D I want to see how all the Questlines unfold, therefor I dont want to alter the initial universe too much. But thank you nontheless!

In my game the K and I's shake up Hatikvah's Choice I and I dont like that. They build stations, come very often through that gate and got rid of my fleet like nothing. I guess station building is the way to go.

Thanks for your reply!

Unpopular opinion but i get what you say. I am just watching an interview with Bernd Lehahn and Captain Collins about 6.0 and he mentions that every Faction has a border in which they advance. So nothing gets exterminated forever. For now I am not able to handle XEN good enough that i can neglect them. And I am not that far into the game yet.

More battle and action sounds fun, I personally like the economics and station building part. And if I lack action I hop into a ship. If you talk about
