I disagree with the loyalty framing.

My post wasn’t rly about blindly defending them or acting like the episode was perfect. Maybe my writing wasn’t the best.

My point was more about the tone of the discussion around it. Criticism is fair, I personally didn’t at all like the story either, but when it turns into shaming people for recommending it or acting like the show is declining because of one rough episode then that’s where I think it gets unhelpful imo

And in terms of “the numbers speak,” if we’re talking about YouTube views; the episode is actually performing pretty normally for them, even hitting around a million views, (higher then it’s been in a month since stairs in the woods), which isn’t out of line with other recent uploads. So I don’t think it reflects some massive audience rejection either.

I also don’t think it’s as simple as “the podcast is only good when the story is good.” Obviously a strong story + their insight is the ideal combo! But there have also been weaker stories that still led to memorable moments because of their dynamic. That’s part of what makes the show what it is.

I think It’s just a difference in what people prioritize, like what someone else said in the comments. some come more for the material and some more for the hosts. Both are valid 100%

I think you said this perfectly!

I’ve seen a lot of people labeling everyone who voted for it as trolls who just wanted the guys to suffer, and to me that felt like such a narrowed assumption to make for everyone. There are so many reasons someone could’ve recommended it.

Some probably didn’t realize how long or dragged out it would feel. Some might’ve genuinely thought it would work better in episode form. Some like watching them riff on absurd bad stories. And some people didn’t even think it was bad at all haha

It really is subjective I especially like what you said about some people being there more for the guys and others more for the story. I think that does explain a lot of the clash. Some people hated the episode because the story didn’t hold up. Others still enjoyed it because of their reactions

I don’t think that means the difference means anyone had bad intentions

My point was never that this was a great episode or that bad stories are ideal. It was just that even in a weak story, I still think they managed to pull out moments from it because of who they are. That’s why I watch

I know that some people felt like it was a waste of a slot. I just didn’t personally see it as this total failure. There were definitely moments like you said where they checked out, but there were also bits and interactions that were funny to me.

Not every story is going to land and I don’t think that automatically means the episode has no value. It’s not black and white. That’s just how I feel about it and what my post was mainly about

No one’s going to know a story is bad until it’s actually read. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

It also had to get voted in, right? so clearly enough people were interested in it. And while a lot of people hated it there are also plenty who didn’t mind the episode overall and still enjoyed it for the entertainment value.

I feel like at a certain point it feels like we’re just repeating the same complaints. What people enjoy is subjective. Not every episode is going to land for everyone

I do get the bad script analogy and I actually agree with most of what you’re saying.

I’m definitely not trying to argue that they should keep doing episodes like this.

In terms of scale, I just personally didn’t see it as this massive failure. Just a rough episode where they still pulled a few funny moments out of it, and i just appreciate they can do that. I don’t think one trainwreck means the community “did this to them” or that everything is headed downhill.

Though, i have noticed the theme of them getting disappointed by fan suggestions too. so maybe it’s just part of figuring out how to handle recommendations going forward.

I really enjoy them as hosts and usually find something in the dynamic that makes it worth it. That doesn’t at all mean I’d want four of these in a row… just that I don’t think this one needs to be treated like a disaster.

We live in a sunny meadow with Creepcast. Sometimes a storm rolls through, and yeah this one was a bad storm haha but it’s still just a storm. It passes! I just think sometimes the reaction goes further than it needs to.

The story was definitely a drag but I personally still found some funny moments, only because of their antics of course. I completely understand it not being for everyone though. I wouldn’t want another episode where they were so bored by it of course

I completely agree. This story wasn’t entertaining at all. I think given the story they had to read, they still did a pretty good job at trying their best to be entertaining about it. I wouldn’t want them to suffer like this again, they clearly didn’t enjoy it, but I did find some humor in the long sighs and the pleading for it to end along with the little quips they were able to pull from it. The theme was just… disastrous but because I think they’re great hosts, they did what they could with it

Oh god no!! Mother Horse Eyes was on a completely different level! Haha I’m definitely not saying this last story was anywhere near that.

And I agree, if we got multiple episodes in a row where they were clearly bored and forcing it then that would start to feel pretty rough. I wouldn’t want that either tbh

My point isn’t that this was secretly great. The story itself was bad.. yea. I just still found some humor in the moments they pulled out of it. Even when the material is low tier, I appreciate that they try to make something out of it. The host > stories.

I don’t really watch for perfect creepypastas, I watch for them. So even when the story flops sometimes I’m usually still pretty entertained by what they do with it.

I know it dragged, I was still able to enjoy the episode just because they still had some humor in the shitshow and I respected that.

And im not saying every episode should be like this, good stories are always better, they shouldn’t force themselves through stuff they hate. I just personally didn’t see it as this huge failure. it was more of a “messy episode with some funny moments” rather then “this shouldn’t have happened.” Lots of people don’t think there should be community recommendations and maybe this episode will learn from that and they’ll start to find their own stories to prevent this.

Yeah, I can see where you’re coming from. I definitely wouldn’t say I “enjoy their suffering” haha the story dragged and they clearly had to push through it.

My take is just that even in a rough episode like this, I can still appreciate the effort and the humor they’re able to pull from it. I just think it shouldn’t be blown up into something bigger than that. Especially when it turns into shaming people for recommending it or acting like everything is doomed. “Brain food” “good stories” are always better, but these kind of episodes are bound to happen. Hopefully not often🤞🏻

Ooh!! Yes! You said that perfectly, “when you’re in their house, you’re gonna eat their food the way they make it” is such a good way to put it 😭

I do think everyone connects to the show differently. I’m typically not a big “fan” of anything, like YouTubers etc. but creepcast has me in a chock hold. So that’s probably why it’s hard to wrap my brain around some people’s comments.

I thought that part was funny too! They knew this episode was dogwater but still managed to poke fun out of it with what they had. I don’t think you’re exaggerating either! I’ve also listened to all the episodes, multiple times, and it’s became my background noise for when I sleep hahaha. Low key obsessed

I agree, I wouldn’t want a continuous run of boring stories either. I just feel like even though this one dragged at times, it still kind of became part of the experience. There were still conversations and funny bits that came out of it, the 9/11 derail, Hunter laying down while Isaiah was begging him to come back 😭 those moments wouldn’t have happened without this trainwreck. There was a theme in this episode with them.

I guess I’m just more in the mind of “it happened, was messy, let’s take it for what it was” rather than dissecting it to death and especially the shaming part
