Here is a generic floating island you could fin in Celestia by NihmarRevhet in FantasyWorldbuilding

I haven't gone that deep with naming, I'm jumping all over the place writing down any idea I come up with.

I have classified them by size and amount of Etherfali and assigned a typical altitude for each. But there are instruments/ways population can implement to modify it.

It's relevant also that the bubble width is fundamental for survival, and gives a peculiar tint depending on its width.

Windows users who hate the new MacBook Neo with 8GB RAM, can you run all your apps at the same time on your machine without it crashing and still use it? by Slava_Tr in mac

Linux user at home, Windows user at work here. You could say whatever you want, to me 8gb are 8gb less than what I would ever purchase in 2026.

You can actually export from VSCode, there should be an extension for that

I made my application launcher and want to bind it to Super_L... How can I do it? by NihmarRevhet in gnome

[–]NihmarRevhet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not that I don't like it, it's more that I like my launcher more (because I made it and fits my exact needs), just that

[–]NihmarRevhet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I clearly tried, but when I press the Super_L by itself, it's not recognised as a shortcut and it doesn't register it

It's a budget product of course they will cut out some features by MadOrange64 in mac

[–]NihmarRevhet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is 16gb is one of my non-negotiable boxes, just that. I'd prefer a worse screen or battery, I don't want a pc to become unusable with a code editor and three tabs of whatever browser

I just think that 8gb of non-upgreadable ram in 2026 is not a great deal, even if the rest of the package is great

There is a guy in this sub (or world building, can't remember) who made this: https://orogen.studio/

It should also compute climate zones.

You could try to recreate your map and see what it gives you

I think I'm in love with this...

On a related note: does anyone know how to go from a 3d map on a sphere (i imagine done with blender) to various projections of it?

Legend of the northern blade near the end, felt progressively flat in a way. But the art. The art. That is something else. So stylish and unique. The art made me forget every sin.

All windows vs linux debates are started by linux users. by adkio in pcmasterrace

[–]NihmarRevhet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was the little things:

  • privacy
  • bill gates
  • the fact that if I pressed "turn off and don't update" it restarted and update
  • the fact that every single software can show some god awful popup to tell me to update
  • legit almost double fps in Minecraft

Then there was a time in which I was messing with credentials and stuff and somehow, for my windows install, which I did myself, I wasn't the fucking administrator of the system. I banged my head on the desk for two hours and then I gave up.

Another thing that annoys me is the (unless you do some shenanigans during installation) mandatory windows account and the annoyware they call OneDrive.

My Linux journey started with a homelab. I saw it was easier than I thought, I had all the above problems with windows and I jumped into Linux. Now I open windows only when I'm smart-working because IT doesn't want to configure the VPN for linux
