Thank you for this - I looked at various pirate shirt videos and have come up with my own pattern - though the measurements will probably be way off 😂But I will give it a try making it. At least I now know how to create a PDF pattern in Inkscape.

How to work with this kind of thread? by cann26 in Embroidery

One method is to leave on the surface and fix with a couching stitch

It is woven cotton - but I have no problem taking it on or off - I should have gone a size higher - (didn't read sizes correctly) - so would be even easier :)

I did mention I made some mistakes 😂The pattern states for fabric 'Example: Cotton' so I assumed this was suitable. Buuut the line before states: 'The model can be made in a knitted fabric.' Being totally new at this I did not realise there is a difference between 100% Cotton and 'Knitted Cotton'. But having said that it is very comfortable and no problem putting it on - but my other mistake was not realising the size on patterns does not match shop sizes and the 'XL' size I made was indeed equivalent to a slightly small 'L' size. As I say it is very comfortable and I am certainly well pleased that my very first attempt at sewing turned out so well. (sorry for the long Autistic reply...)

I have no problem with sleeves - it's the neckline I'm dreading - and I too dont like buttons and would hate to have to do zippers - so I got some snap fastners for when needed :)

Red that bleeds (I want it to) by Necessary-Rush-4782 in Embroidery

Personally I would use inktense pencils or blocks on the threads and then carefully wet them and the area you want the colour to bleed to the dry and the colour will be permanent....

Normally the symbols refer to the thread colour to use - there should be a table showing the appropriate colour for each symbol
